Bsod irql_not_less_or_equal

Hello, this is my first post in this forums! I hope you can help me with my problem.

On the 1st of this month, I had a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD after leaving my laptop on to download something overnight. After that, it took longer than usual to bootup, but it did it eventually.

Just today, the same BSOD happened (except without the "DRIVER_" in front). However, after today's 1st BSOD, upon bootup, it took really long (I waited for quite some time) so I decided to forcefully shut it down.
I started it up again, waited for a while and the Windows login screen appeared. I logged in, but the usual Start screen doesn't appear. What appeared was just a blank black screen with my mouse cursor (move-able).
I left it there for a while, and when I came back, it showed a blank black screen without my mouse cursor there any more, and after a few seconds it showed the Windows login page again.
I logged in, and the same blank black screen with the mouse cursor appeared again. I left it there again, and when I came back it showed another (2nd) BSOD (I didn't manage to see what the error was before it restarted).
After a while, the Windows login page appeared again but instead of logging in, I tried doing a clean shutdown (power button -> shutdown). It longer than usual to shutdown, but it eventually did.

I left my laptop to cool for a while, unplugged the power adapter and switched on the laptop again. The bootup was relevantly faster (than the previous ones) and I managed to login successfully with everything loaded properly.

Please help! Thanks!

The reports are incomplte.
Please rerun the data collection app and let it run for at least 15 minutes (or until the app itself says it's done).

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disk-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

lease update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Sorry about the incomplete reports earlier, I was in a rush so I thought it had finished when nothing appeared for sometime.

I have uninstalled Daemon Tools, I have updated npf.sys and tap0901.sys. I can't seem to find the Lenovo HD Disk Driver nor the Sonic CD/DVD driver updates and I don't know what programs are responsible for them (default drivers that came with the laptop probably?).

Is there anything I should do next?

Find attached, the updated reports.

The next thing to do is to wait - wait to see if the BSOD's continue.
IMO Daemon Tools is the most likely cause, followed by the tap0901.sys (with others less likely, but still possible).

Don't worry about the rest of the drivers for now. If they reappear any subsequent memory dumps, then we'll deal with them then.

There are many, many, many (I don't often use 3 many's - so there's a lot!!!) Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32. This could be an indicator of a hardware problem also. Please do these 2 things:
1) Run these free hardware diagnostics (this is the full set, not the initial set I recommended earlier): Hardware Diagnostics
2) Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Okay, I will do the hardware diagnostics when I have time later.

I couldn't save the Admin Events. When I click on Administrative Events, it gives me a Query Error.
Log: Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic
Error: The system cannot find the file specified.

It doesn't allow me to save the events because it gives me the error "The system cannot find the file specified".

Okay, I've fixed the glitch (your link is right) and saved the Admin Event Logs.

As for hardware testing, I still don't have the time to do it yet. I'll do it ASAP though.

No real firm evidence in the Admin log file
It could be hardware (to include overheating) or it could be that there's a need for a BIOS/UEFI update.
Check Lenovo to see if there is an update, here's the info you'll need:
BIOS Version 6BCN43WW(V2.03)
BIOS Release Date 04/23/2013
Manufacturer LENOVO
Product Name 20193
Check your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Let us know the results when you do get to the hardware diagnostics.

So far I have only had time to do memtest. It passed 4 times with no errors.

As for BIOS, after upgrading to Windows 8.1, I patched the BIOS with a patch provided by Lenovo to fix an SLI issue on the laptop. Not sure if that just fixes the issue or if that means that I'm already using the latest BIOS.
There are no other BIOS updates on the Lenovo support page for my laptop.

The temperatures on my laptop are fine, I have been monitoring them. I'll attach the HWMonitor "log".

Will continue doing more hardware tests hopefully soon.

I'm not real familiar with the details of the hwinfo report, but are you overclocking?
Core Speed 3192.4 MHz
Multiplier x Bus Speed 32.0 x 99.8 MHz
Stock frequency 2400 MHz
If you are, please remove the overclock while we're testing. Feel free to resume it once the system has been stabilized.

Specs for your system from the Lenovo website.

No, I have not overclocked my laptop (unless I did without realizing so). Could unparking/parking CPU be a possible cause? I remember doing something like that quite sometime ago (but I was pretty sure I undid it after I was done).

I think it's my not understanding the report - rather than your overclocking. Don't worry about it for now, just finish the hardware diagnostics and we'll figure out where to go from there.

I don't know if using a Windows-runnable HDD test will suffice (SeaTools for Windows | Seagate) but I had it perform a "Fix All Long" test and passed.

Code:
--------------- SeaTools for Windows v1.2.0.8 ---------------13/11/2013 7:55:49 PM
Model: ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB
Serial Number: S2SMJ9GD418850
Firmware Revision: 2AR20002
Fix All Long - Pass 13/11/2013 7:55:49 PM

Do I still have to do a bootable HDD test?

TDSSKiller found no threats. Kaspersky Security Scan found no threats (just a bunch of alerts about my computer having autorun enabled).

And like I have mentioned in my previous post, memtest86 passed 4 times with no errors.

I ran Furmark with SLI settings enabled, put it to fullscreen and tried both forcing alternate frame rendering 1 and 2 but my 2nd GPU doesn't seem to be getting any GPU load. I ran it for 15.5 minutes and GPU 1 hit 88 degrees C but 2nd GPU was still hovering around 40 degrees C. What seems to be the problem here? How do I get the 2nd GPU to work? (I tried the methods here [TIPS] How to Enable SLI and CrossFire Support for OpenGL Applications | Geeks3D except for the renaming methods).

Also, just to verify, for Prime95, the number of torture test threads to run for me is 8, right?

Intel Processor Diagnostics passed as well.

A question, is it really safe for GPU temps to reach around 90 degrees C and above? I'm worried it may cause problems with my GPU instead of fixing any (thermal paste drying up)?

You have problems with the video - 88ºC is just too high IMO.
Run the other video tests and watch the temps.

Another option is to remove the SLI and test each card individually.

FWIW - I don't know anything about SLI, so you'd be better off asking in the Graphics Cards forum: Graphic Cards - Windows 8 Forums
