BSOD when coming out of Sleep/Hibernate after upgrade to 8

I've been using Windows 7 on my laptop for over a year now with little to no problems, decide to finally take the dive into Windows 8. The installation runs smoothly, and everything seems perfect up until I tried to come out of sleep mode. Whenever I try to come out of either sleep or Hibernate it starts to awaken then I get the BSOD, stating "Your PC ran into a problem it couldn't handle, and now it needs to restart :("
After following the instructions to search "Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error", and finding answers that didn't work for me, I'm here now, months later, sad, tired and in need of this being fixed

TL;DR
Switched to Windows 8 (then to 8.1) from 7, BSOD when coming out of sleep/hibernate. Please help

No memory dumps in the uploaded reports, please do this:
Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp. Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDumpMore info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

The BSOD error codes in the WER section of MSINFO32 show STOP 0x7A BSOD's - these point to hardware or software problems (see the "Usual causes" section of this link: BSOD Index )
The NTStatus codes show that the error was because the system couldn't find/see the device (most likely the hard drive)

For starters:
At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Post back with the results of the diagnostics and we'll move on from there.

Minidump is a STOP 0x7A error also. There's a couple of things that you can fix - but I still strongly suspect a hardware problem (so the diagnostics are necessary).
EDIT: Please note that the minidump states that there is a Disk Hardware Error. Do the hard drive diagnostics first (as there's no sense in doing the other stuff if you need to replace the hard drive - and then reinstall Windows).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Also, please see the list of drivers below. Check all that are dated from before the release of Win8.1 (October of 2013) to see if they are compatible with Win8.1. If not, then update them. If updates aren't available, either remove (uninstall) them - or wonder if there is a compatiblity problem that cannot be fixed.

Sorry I took so long to reply. I followed all the links to update the drivers, found all the others that were needed I ram memtest86, where I ran into a problem. I ran it about three times or so (between 3-5) on its default, and each time my laptop would cut off suddenly. I round this weird until I realised that it kept doing this at the same point, during test #8, at around 50% total completion.

I hope this helps. Let me know what else is needed and thank you alot for your help so far.

Also, I was thinking of downgrading to windows 7, since nothing happened between me upgrading (from a hardware standpoint), maybe my hardware just isnt suited for windows 8.

Did you run the disk test as I suggested? If not, here's the link: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Since the system cuts off during a certain memory test, I'd have to suspect a problem with the memory also.
Have you tried Prime95 yet? It stresses the RAM a bit differently than MemTest86+:
From here: Prime95
Prime95 Stress Test - free from here: Free Software - GIMPS

I suggest using a temperature monitoring program. I picked this free one because it was the first one I found that also shows GPU temps: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
I also suggest this one: http://www.hwinfo.com

Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.
NOTE: Errors should be considered when:
- the system BSOD's during Prime95
- the system freezes during Prime95 (this is different than the extreme slowness caused by the program using all your RAM and CPU)
- the Prime95 program crashes
- the Prime95 program shows errors in it's display
- there are errors in the Prime95 results file

Also, you can remove all but one stick and run MemTest86+ Test #8 on each one. That should help to isolate the bad stick(s).

This appears to be a hardware problem - we just have to isolate exactly what's causing it (is it hard drive, is it memory, is it both, or is something else involved also?). Downgrading to Win7 would likely have the same problems.

When you say "sticks" what exactly are you referring to? I'm not well versed in taking apart my laptop, so I wont be able to do that on my own.
Running Prime95 as we speak
Also, I'm considering downgrading to Win7 because I never had this problem until I updated to Win8. From the first time I tried to hibernate I started getting the BSOD, which I never got in my previous build.

MemTest86+ doesn't run in Windows, it's Linux based. The memory error is most likely due to your hardware - not the OS.
What were the results of Prime95?

Each individual piece of memory is referred to as a "stick". Most laptops have 2 of these.
Your system has 4 gB of RAM installed, so it's most likely that you have 2 - 2 gB "sticks" (this is a guess on my part).

Most laptops have a "hatch" on the bottom so you can get at the RAM fairly easily.
Be sure to unplug the system from the wall and remove the battery before trying to get at the RAM.

Here's an instructional post that's typical of most laptops: Memory upgrades from Crucial.com - Notebook/Laptop Memory Module Installation Guide

The chances are that you will still have hardware problems if you downgrade to Win7. This isn't 100% certain, but is nearly so. If you already have a legal copy of Win7 it won't hurt to try it - but I wouldn't go out and buy a new copy unless you're willing to spend the money and still have the problem.

Good luck!

I just want to chime in for two reasons:

1) About the RAM. We should look at its settings. Please attach a screenshot of CPU-Z first tab, Memory tab and one each for each stick of RAM of the SPD tab. Latest crash dump too would be good.

2) USASMA is a legend! Seriously. He is THE one that got me started well with debugging when I couldn't figure out how to get my symbols right. I didn't know of the resources and was trying random things all on my own. USASMA hooked me up proper when I asked.

Also, his website is beyond invaluable. At least 80% of the crash dumps I look at, I end up going there to check things.

Awesome!!!
