Hi

STOP 0x124 is always hardware related. Among various reasons, Overclocking is the number one reason for this particular BSOD so the first thing you should do is disabling overclocking, voltage tweaking of CPU, RAM and let the system run on stock values (at least as a test).

Whether to overclock or not is your choice but you should understand a fact that overclocking a Core i7 CPU is not going to boost a single FPS in any PC games. Almost all PC games are GPU centric and even the most CPU demanding games only require half the power your CPU offers. OC will benefit in case of certain apps like CAD programs, video rendering etc as they are blindly tied to the clock speed of CPU. But PC games seems to benefit from the number of cores as they are ported from eight core PS3.

Disable OC and check whether it helps. You can re-enable it at any time once the root cause is found.

Hi

Unlike other stop codes, a STOP 0x124 is always caused by hardware reasons.

Code:
BugCheck 124, {0, ffffe00004253028, be000000, 800400}

Probably caused by :[B] hardware[/B]

This bug check means CPU detected a fatal hardware error and called bugcheck function to prevent data corruption.

Source : Bug Check 0x124: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (Windows Debuggers)

Usual causes : Overclocking , Overheating , BIOS bug , failing CPU , motherboard fault etc.

Usually what we do is to check and rule out the possible causes one by one. In your case, CPU is overclocked and it is the nice and best way to invite blue screen , crashes and freezes in to a system. As the first step, we should disable overclocking and voltage tweaking at least as a test.
