Two different machines now (Windows 8 64bit Pro with media center). It installed the update and rebooted to a black screen and then BSOD to DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. Deleted temp files and cache and downloaded it again and same thing.:mad:

This has something to do with Media Center because the PC that doesn't have this on, installed flawlessly.

@errodiel

Please try this solution and get back to me, I did some searching and it said to disable windows defender. This Just worked on one of my PC's and will try the other one later. Go into Windows Defender Settings and uncheck the box that says to use the realtime protection. Reboot Windows and make sure it's still off, then try doing the update again.

I found this to be caused by STEELSERIES Software installed on the system. Uninstall this people. Is there a way to block the driver from loading apart from uninstalling the engine software?

Veeery interesting; we got a Steelseries mouse last month and installed the additional software. I've only just got home so not going to attempt it tonight, but this weekend I'll remove all mouse drivers and try again.
