I've seen lot's of problems recently with the Killer network manager and the Killer cards. More on that later.

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD. I usually can't see this info in the reports, so I rely on you to check it.
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to. If involved these should be visible in the memory dump - but it doesn't hurt to check manually.

This device cannot start:
Insyde Airplane Mode HID Mini-Driver ACPI\PNPC000\1 This device cannot start.
Please:
- download the latest, Win8 compatible drivers for this device from here: CLEVO - Download
- uninstall the current drivers
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

The Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service/KillerNetManager is known to cause BSOD's. Please follow the workaround instructions here:
First, open the Run dialog (Win + R keys) and type in "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Scroll down and locate the "Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service" and right click on it. Select "Stop"
Right click on it again and this time select "Properties"
In the dropdown box for "Startup type", select "Disabled", then click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the window

Next, open Task Manager (right click on TaskBar and select "Task Manager")
Click on the "More details" dropdown (if present)
Click on the "Startup" tab
Scroll down and locate the "KillerNetManager" entry, right click on it and select "Disable"

Finally, restart the system in order for the changes to take affect.

At times the Killer Network Manager will continue to load. If so, it's usually listed in the MSINFO32...Software Environment...Startup Programs section. If it is, please try this:
Please do this:
It may be that the instructions aren't stopping everything.
In some cases, there's a program running out of the Program Files/Program Files (x86) directory.
"c:\program files\qualcomm atheros\killer network manager\killer~1.exe" (NOTE: killer~1.exe is most likely killernetmanager.exe)
In other cases, there's a program running out of c:\windows\installer\{42cd22a9-1451-4cf7-8781-ab27257fc347}\networkmanager.exe_130c27d738f34c89bddf21bcfd74b56d.exe -minimize

Here's some things to try
1) Please see if there are any entries in the Startup tab of Task Manager that are related to Qualcomm/Atheros/Killer Network Manager (and NOT the card itself) and disable them (please let us know what you find) Be careful as the wrong selection can disable the network card.
2) Check in "msconfig" for any entries that aren't in the Startup tab of Task Manager. Let us know if you find any Qualcomm/Atheros/Killer entries there (we'll disable them differently if they are there).
3) Locate the "c:\program files\qualcomm atheros\killer network manager\killer~1.exe" and rename the .exe to .BAD (the killer~1 is actually a filename that starts with killer and ends with .exe) There will be an error in event viewer, but it'll stop the bugger from loading.
4) Locate the "c:\windows\installer\{42cd22a9-1451-4cf7-8781-ab27257fc347}\networkmanager.exe_130c27d738f34c89bddf21bcfd74b56d.exe" entry and rename the .exe to .BAD

Just FYI - here are the MSI workaround instructions: MSI USA

If still running verifier, please turn it off. To do this, open verifier.exe and select "Delete existing settings", then click on "Finish". Reboot for the changes to take effect.

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Thanks John, for taking the time on analysing my minidumps etc. I can't believe you are doing this for free! Surely you should charge people? ;)

  • SSDs (I have 3 x Crucial M500 have been updated to MU03 (as I read they fixed compatibility issues with haswell chip)

  • Insyde Airplane Mode HID - The provided disk version installs normally, and I have installed the latest from Clevo, but as you can see it install in the state you see from the captures (this device cannot start). I tried different states e.g. disable driver etc. But still BSODs.

  • Killer N 1103 - From reading your previous posts ;), I tried the system without installing killer, and disabling killer etc. Shutting down the startup, but still getting BSODs.

  • I don't believe the system is overclocked(?), but looking at the output you shown it is going to 3.19ghz. The CPU can do boost up to 3.9Ghz so I dont' think it would be the cause (unless faulty cpu....?)

I will run the hardware diagnositics (currenlty I have reinstalled windows 8 pro, no USB device plugged in whilst installing - No drivers have been installed, only ones that Windows has setup)

Thanks

Kind Regards,

Robert

If you can't get the Insyde Airplane mode to work - that's a problem.
As this is a new system you may want to consider returning it - or sending it in for repair.

In most cases the Killer software will continue to cause BSOD's (I haven't quite figured out why this is).
In order to fix it you must be sure that the program isn't loading. To do this requires that you run a new set of the BSOD reports for us to have a look at. (it should also grab the new memory dumps - and we'll need them to see what sort of patterns are developing).

The overclocking most likely isn't the problem - but we can't tell for sure until we rule it out. We rule it out by returning the system to stock values. As for why it's overclocked - I've seen another system (with a much higher overclock) where the owner doesn't know why. I suspect that this may be some sort of "SpeedStep" technology that's setup in the BIOS. I'd check over in the hardware forums for more suggestions about that.

Hi John,

I returned it once already for RMA, but as it passed a stress test, it was sent back to me. I'm preparing to get it returned again, as the laptop costs quite abit! especially since its brand new...

I'll update the thread when I get a update, hopefully with an answer.. but due to the random nature, I'm suspecting hardware issue at this point.

The last setup was just plain ol windows 8 pro x64, just stock drivers that windows assigns and no windows update. Got one BSOD which pointed to audiodg.exe

Thanks

Robert

Most repair centers are pretty good if the problem is reproducible.
Make sure you give explicit instructions on how the errors are generated.

Please generate another set of the data collection reports and upload it here.

Just a quick update that I got back from the RMA department. The issues seems to be the RAID controller drivers

"The laptop was rebuilt and setup without raid and tested over the weekend, no problems were found and the laptop completed both an idle test 5hrs and the weekend burnin test 61hrs. When setting up RAID this morning the system crashed.

I have contacted the manufacturer regarding this problem as no matter which raid software version is installed the system blue screens. The RMA will be updated once the manufacturer has been in touch."

##UPDATE

Manufacturer (Clevo) have provided new BIOS and Driver and is undergoing new set of testing.

##UPDATE 2

Laptop has passed the burnin test using the new raid drivers. I may purchase the software
PassMark BurnInTest software - Compare BurnInTest Editions, which they used to test the system after I install all the latest drivers.

Once I comfortable that system is stable, I'm going to try Windows 8.1 when its released this month ;)

Thanks for all your assistance John!

##UPDATE 3

The Motherboard, CPU and RAM were all changed out and test were then run. So it was definitely the RAID/ISRT Drivers causing the issue. New drivers provided by Clevo were not the same as the ones currently on the website.
