Kernel event 41

Starting a week ago, my PC began crashing due to a Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error.

This occurs at seemingly random times (i.e. not when it wakes up from sleep, etc.) and try as I might, I have not been able to successfully troubleshoot the issue.

I attached the data retrieved from the SF Diagnostic Tool. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

I greatly appreciate any help!

The reports aren't complete. Please rerun the data collection app and let it run for at least 15 minutes (or until the app itself says that it's done).
Then zip it up and upload it with your next post.

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.
Processor may be overclocked!
Expected Frequency: 1900
Actual Frequency: 2395
Overclock Ratio: 1.26053

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

STOP 0x7A errors ( BSOD Index ) are mostly hardware. If stopping the overclock doesn't fix it, then please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

Thank you for your help.

I've attached what I think is a complete report. Please let me know if it isn't.

Interesting about the overclocking. This is not intentional. The computer isn't a home build, and I've never adjusted settings to overclock. How would you recommend I go about stopping it?

Thank you again for your help. I greatly appreciate it.

I'm not real up to date on overclocking techniques. I'd suspect that it's something set in your UEFI - and that it would be some sort of Turbo/SpeedBoost/etc settings. But beyond that I'd suggest posting over in the hardware forums.

On occasion, the mod's will return your post to this forum - and in that case we'll have to discuss options at other forums.

The additional reports don't show anything unusual - with the exception of numerous Live Kernel Events (which I suspect are from the overclocking). Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

I'll use this report to see if I can see any patterns in the Live Kernel Events that may help us out.

Thanks again.

I will do some looking into online to see if I can fix the overclocking.

In the meantime, I have attached the event viewer file you requested.

I see repeated disk errors in the Admin Event Log.
Try:
1)
CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
FWIW - I know that the /F is supposed to be redundant, but I prefer to have it run anyway.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.
2) Please run hard drive diagnostics on ALL of your hard drive(s): Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Thank you!

I will run the recommended diagnostics as well as investigate further on how to stop the overclocking. I will post back with any errors.

I appreciate the help.

So my progress with this problem seems to be going in the opposite direction.

I have tried to stop the overclocking, but don't know if I was successful. And the diagnostics I've run so far on the hard drive seem unexciting.

Nevertheless, my situation has gotten worse with the crashes occurring more frequently. Also, while the error is still a Kernel 41 error, the bugcheck code has changed on the last two crashes from 122 to 89 and 159 respectively.

I didn't know if this new information could be of help. I've attached a newly created report.

Thank you for any assistance!

I'll try to find a Lenovo to look at at work today - maybe I can find the overclocking section.

I'll post back this afternoon (Eastern Time in the US).

Looked at 3 laptops and a desktop.
Only the desktop had anything - that was the Intel SpeedStep technology under the CPU section.

Interesting. My lenovo laptop does have a SpeedStep setting in the BIOS that was previously enabled. I have since disabled it, but to no avail of my issues.

Are you able to tell whether or not my laptop is still overclocking based on the latest report I uploaded?

Network and USB in the raw stack.
Network driver is outdated.
What USB devices do you have connected?

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

There are no USB devices hooked to this PC.

The wireless adapter drive is intentionally out-of-date because I was having issues with the PC dropping my wireless connection. I rolled back the driver from Intel to Microsoft's 2011 version to fix the problem.

If you feel that it is likely that this out-of-date driver is causing the crashes, then I can update it. However, if not, then I would rather leave it in its current state.

I see that the PC is still overclocking despite me having disabled the SpeedStep. Is it likely that the overclocking is the majority of the problem?

Thanks!

I suspect that the overclock is the problem, but I haven't been involved in any overclocking for at least 10 years.
I'd suggest posting over in the hardware forums for some additional assistance: Drivers & Hardware - Windows 8 Forums
