I built the computer and got everything running fine. I started transferring games onto steam from my previous (ultra-low end for gaming apu) laptop and during this process thought it would be a good idea to download windows 8.1.
I had some issues with an hdmi cable going to my hdtv that I use as a monitor and I tried updating gpu drivers to fix it. I eventually found out that the problem was the hdmi so I switched to VGA and the displays been fine since. At some point I went into the bios and used the preset ASUS overclock thingy they have set up and also set the ddr3 speed from auto to 1866. Thats when I started noticing issues with the BSODs. I reset the bios settings to default but kept getting the issue. I ran memtest and got 3 passes without errors, so I kept searching.
After reading a post somewhere that it might have to do with VGA drivers, I tried reinstalling drivers and the problem was fixed!
However, not for long. I tried installing some free antivirus software and almost immediately after restarting after the installation, I had another BSOD. I tried another antivirus software, same problem. Right now it seems to run fine with just windows defender, but I want something a little beefier.
Whenever I mess with (it seems to be) clock speeds, drivers, or antivirus software, I can't keep the computer on for more than 5 minutes without getting a blue screen. Every time it says the same thing, to search online for "memory management". I have, and I just keep running into the same problem. Since there are so many things that cause the same thing to happen, there must be one common element thats causing the problem right? I hope yall can understand these log files, I have no idea what to do. I just want a stable system with overclocking and antivirus without these BSODs. Would I have to reset back to win8? how would I do that?
My components:
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card
Raidmax 530W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
I tried following the directions for using the SF diagnostic tool, hopefully it worked.
Thank you all for any help.
