BSOD with KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Hi everyone.

Quite a while back, I purchased an HP Pavilion Sleekbook with Windows 8. It had problems since the day I bought it around two months ago. The shop does not accept refunds. But this laptop has been in the PC clinic around 8 times since I bought it. The problem persisted, although the laptop was formatted many times, and the network card with the problematic driver (netr28x.sys) was replaced. it's crashed many more times since I brought it back, so I got fed up and disabled the network card. I had an old wireless adapter lying around, so I connected that to the computer earlier today. It was working fine for a little while... and then yep. Bluescreen. This time the error was KMODE_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (intelppm.sys). I've attached the files that the SF Diagnostic Tool yielded. I believe four of the five dumps are from before, caused by netr28x.sys, and the latest one is this new error.

Thanks in advance.

I would be on the phone with HP right now. HP's warranty is 1 year - and Win8 came out last October - so you should have about 2 months left on your warranty.

The latest memory dump is suggestive of a hardware problem (see the Usual Causes listed here: BSOD Index ).
Although driver problems are possible with this error, your having reformatted it several times should have ruled that sort of issue out.
You must remove the wireless USB network adapter to completely rule out driver problems (as these devices tend to crash a lot). Here's my canned speech about them:
I do not recommend using wireless USB network devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful. (For laptops I suggest using the in-built wireless card, or the in-built wired connection)

Meanwhile, you can start with these hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

Thanks for the sugestions, John. A problem, though: my laptop does not have a CD drive for most of the diagnostics. Would an external drive work?

Be aware that booting from a CD/DVD in an OEM UEFI-based system isn't as easy as it was in the older BIOS-based systems. You have to disable SecureBoot and enable the legacy boot functions (which are different for each OEM, and sometimes different between models).

An external CD/DVD drive should work (if your system is able to boot to USB devices)
You can also use a bootable USB drive - I use YUMI for that (it let's your boot ISO files from the USB drive), but I haven't checked for updates to it in the last year or so. It's free here: YUMI - Multiboot USB Creator (Windows) | USB Pen Drive Linux
