Lots of BSODs since I've installed Windows 8

Hello everyone! I installed Windows 8 Pro a couple of weeks ago, and I've been getting A LOT of blue screens of death since then with different errors. Or sometimes my computer would just freeze, turn off and it wouldn't turn on without several tries (same thing happened when I had Windows 7 sometimes). I uploaded the .zip file with my information. What should I do?

Edit: Just got a couple of BSODs once again, first one was something like "Kernel mode exception not handled" and now I've got "Driver overran stack buffer"

The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please:
Upload Dump Files:
NOTE: If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues.
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

More info on dump file options here: Overview of memory dump file options for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

The Intel Management Engine Interface driver MUST be updated. If unable to locate an update, post back and we'll research it to see if there is one available for your system.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

Okay, I updated the Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet driver. But what about the Intel Management Engine Interface driver? I think I need this one: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DwnldID=18532 but it doesn't say that it supports Windows 8 64 bit, what should I do?

Edit: So I decided to play a video game and my computer just froze in the middle of the action, I had to turn it off by holding the power button. When my laptop turned off, I had to press the power button like 10 times to turn it on. The fan would start running and after 2 seconds it would just turn off again completely.

It seems that my computer has already downloaded those updates I mentioned earlier but I couldn't really find Intel Management Engine in the description. I tried to install that driver you gave me but it says that I don't meet the minimum requirements.

Thank you, the second one worked for me. Well, I turned on a video game and my computer just froze in the middle of the action and I had to restart it, what could be the problem now? And BEFORE I installed the Intel Management Engine, I got one BSOD as well and last night when I was going to sleep, when I wanted to turn off my computer, a BSOD happened again. Please take a look at the minidumps

It's not uncommon to experience freezing problems after "fixing" a BSOD. Most often it's a combination of things that were causing the problem.

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

As I discussed in my previous post, this looks to be a low-level problem - which includes either BIOS issues or hardware problems (it looks like we've ruled out the other possibilities). Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there. Please let us know about the status of BIOS updates for your system (I've seen v1.11 dated from June 2011 - but am not able to access the support website).

If the hardware diagnostics don't find anything, then I'd have to wonder if this system is fully compatible with Win8.
