BSOD - After loss of sound and powering down soundcard

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, but I have used this forum for help before, so thank you!

My problem is Windows 8 will occasionally BSOD after the sound goes quiet or dead while watching a video or playing a game and I turn off my M-Audio Fast Track Pro in an attempt to recover sound. This is basically a soundcard that is used to record music or MIDI components. It is attached via USB. I have disabled all other soundcards besides the M-Audio.

Im certain the drivers for this device are current and up-to-date. They do state to support Windows 8 on the M-Audio website found at Fast Track Pro Drivers

My tool named "Blue Screen Viewer" shows to have 2 dump files, but I used the "SF_Diagnostic_Tool" as per forum instructions. The zip file has been attached to this post and I really appreciate any help!

Thanks!

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

These devices are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-V PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_153B&SUBSYS_859F1043&REV_04\3&11583659&0&C8 This device is disabled.
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_859E1043&REV_11\6&EB089EB&0&002800E3 This device is disabled.
Please re-enable them, then update their drivers - then disable them again if so desired.

The WER section of MSINFO32 shows BSOD's blamed on the M-Audio software - as do the 2 memory dumps that you uploaded. Please uninstall the M-Audio software and see if that stops the BSOD's.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If fixing the above stuff stops the BSOD's, then try reinstalling the latest, Win8 compatible version of the M-Audio software to see if the BSOD's return.

Thank you very much for the response! I really appreciate it.

I took a couple of snippets to show you a couple of questions regarding the storage controllers.

Should either of these be a concern. I can't seem to find an update for them.

I went ahead and completely uninstalled ASUS Suite, which contained those drivers you told me to update. (ASUS Charger...etc.)

I'm certain the driver for the M-Audio soundcard is to blame or the soundcard itself. Ill give you an update on the next BSOD. Thanks!

Don't worry about Windows drivers - there's absolutely nothing that you can do about them other than keep up to date on Windows Updates. The most critical thing for you is the SSD firmware (as I have no clue about that) - if there's serious problems with the storage controllers I can usually identify it from the memory dumps.

I strongly suspect the M-Audio soundcard/drivers also. Remove them and see if the BSOD's stop.
If not, that's one less thing that we have to rule out!
