I have installed Windows 8.1 Preview update on my Windows 8.0 about a month ago. Sometimes (very rare) there were BSODs. But few days ago my PC started to freeze without BSOD very often (about 3-5 time per day).

I have just saw my frozen screen again and immediately pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del, then hit ESC and saw in the system tray popup that my nVidia driver has stopped...

First off, a disclaimer - I am not familiar w/8.1 so my analysis is based on Win8 RTM
8.1 is (as I understand it) a Developer's Release - so it can be expected to have bugs.
In the end, the only sure thing will be to revert to Win8 RTM and wait for the RTM version of 8.1

Make sure that you have ALL available Windows updates.

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

E: drive has less than 10% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

These devices are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
TAP-Windows Adapter V9 ROOT\NET\0000 This device is disabled.

USB2.0 2.0M UVC WebCam USB\VID_04F2&PID_B1BB&MI_00\7&3A7EDCA7&0&0000 This device is disabled.

Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_10891A3B&REV_01\001517FFFF24141200 This device is disabled.
Please re-enable them and update their drivers. Feel free to disable them again after this.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

TAP-Windows Adapter V9 ROOT\NET\0000 disabled because I can't delete this driver and it shows that device doesn't work.
Webcamera and WiFi also disabled, until I need it.

It seems that ASUS don't want to support this notebook anymore, no bios updates, no other device drivers updates since 2011.

The BSOD's are about equally split between those with file system issues and those with networking issues. I'd start by wondering about the TAP-WIndows Adapter

Set a system restore point (just in case).

Look in Network Connections for TAP-Adapter stuff and disable/remove it from there

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers and rename tap0901.sys to tap0901.BAD

Search the Start Screen for TAP and let us know what you find in there.

Use this free program (Autoruns for Windows) and use it to disable any instances of tap0901.sys that are starting (or any other TAP entries) (DO NOT DELETE - only disable by removing the checkmark in the left hand column)

Check in the Services applet (services.msc) to be sure any instances of tap0901.sys or any other TAP entries are disabled.

Search in Device Manager for any instances of TAP and disable them.
