Hey everybody!

I just bought this laptop and had Windows 8 Pro installed in it. Everything worked fine. But after a few days when I put the laptop in the sleep mode and turn it back on, instead of waking up and restoring, the laptop restarts. On the log on screen I get an error "Your PC ran into a problem".

I re-installed the video drivers and everything I could but could not find a solution. The minidump file is attached.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

There may be other, hardware-related problems (a lot of Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32).

Please remove HotSpot Shield - it is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

Make sure that the USB modem drivers are updated to the latest, Win 8 compatible version

Sometimes this takes a bit of time to rule out everything.
Please zip up and upload the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and we'll see what the latest crash tells us.

Well I reinstalled the Huawei driver and updated it because I needed it for my internet connection and also updated the connectify driver as both of these drivers are necessary for my daily use. Should I still upload the dump files ?

And other than this, will a clean reinstall of the windows clear the problem ?

This process takes a while - if you're eager to fix it a CLEAN install of Windows won't hurt.

Just FYI - here's how I do BSOD analysis':
- first I rule out 3rd party drivers (over 90% of BSOD's are due to this)
- then I rule out hardware (less than 10% of BSOD's are due to this)
- then I look at Windows problems (less than 1% of BSOD's are due to this - as long as Windows Updates are fully up to date).

Well I tried everything I could but it was no use.
I performed a clean install of Windows 7 as Windows 8 proved very problemtic to me.
Thanks alot for your help. Really appreciated.
