I had run the "appdiagnostic" to fix metro app problems.
It told me to restart. So I did.

Everything was as it should of been.
Got the login screen and logged in.
Once that was done, the laptop freezes after around 15 seconds.

Doesn't matter if is at the lockscreen, login, metro, or regular windows interface.
It will freeze after like 15 seconds.

I get some screen artifacts when the freeze occurs in the login screen.

Tried chkdsk /f /r c: from the recovery and got some errors.
System restore and start up repair don't work.
Tried safe/clean boot, same problem.-must not be third party app problem.
Safe mode works,but not internet.

Tried chkdsk /f in safe mode and that rebooted my laptop to check the HDD.
It goes through the steps and still does not stop freezing.

So I tired one last thing.
Right after my laptop start windows(lockscreen) I put it to sleep and turned off wifi.
Then I logged in,put back to sleep right away.
Then logged in again and everything was fine!

Now I am scared to restart to see if the problem is gone.
Ran malwarebytes and that found no problems.
Since I saw some screen artifacts, maybe I should re install graphics drivers

Any ideas what could cause such a problem?
Windows 7 NEVER had boot problems when I used to use it.
Windows 8 is great,it's just that these random booting problems are piddling me off!
They sometimes occur out of the blue and require different steps to fix.

Okay sorry for the wait.
My computer would not boot anymore.Tried so many things.
So I installed Windows 8 again,but I kept my old windows 8 in windows.old.

Copied all my files to the new Windows 8.
Copied most of my Program Files to the new system.
They all worked fine,I just can't uninstall from the the windows uninstaller, since they where copied not installed.
Kind of like using portable apps!.
I made shortcuts and use them as usual.

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and this happened.
I just clean installed 8.1 and copied my files over.
Might not be the best idea, but it is the same system so nothing should be wrong.
I also used the same username and folder names. All programs open, after installing drivers again.
