Hello all,
First of thank you for taking the time to read this, I am having intermittent BSOD running windows 8, i am a front end dev and have no clue when it comes to system errors I just don't know where to turn with this.
I'm attaching the dmp's from sf diagnostic tool to this post if any other info is needed please feel free to chime in.
So far I've tried a clean boot and updating graphics and chip drivers, the comp has also been off to dell support but they can't seem to find anything wrong with the hardware. I have run memtest's and it passes without fail and all the in house hardware tests pass along with anything I could find to stress test the hardware using :
ultimatebootcd
the BSOD's tend to occur when reproducing video via flash in any browser (chrome, firefox, opera), before the comp went away to dell support I also tried removing the uefi boot and installing Ubuntu, but crashes still occured, I'm leaving a link to the comp specs here:
Inspiron 15R Laptop
the comp is under 3 months old and it's driving me mad, I need to work on it and put my battered asus to rest!!!
any help is much appreciated.
kind regards
Chris
update: also attaching bluescreen view .html

There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!
FWIW - I visit the forums once a day (in the early AM Eastern Time in the US) and work on as many topics as time allows.

There is no info in the MSINFO32 file. Please do this:
MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "msinfo32 /nfo %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back. Then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

Out of the last 22 memory dumps there were 9 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics
Please list exactly which tests that you have already run (and passed).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Realtek PCI/PCIe Adapters
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=Rt630x64.sys

I would continue to talk to Dell about this problem and your inability to use this system. Be pleasant but firm - and request a replacement system. It will save them time and labor having to test/retest the system - and it'll save you time that you can't use your new system.

thank you for the propmt reply and srry for bumping the thread, I realise this is a after and before work hobby and appriciate the effort!!!
you are a star: D
right to address the points as follows:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem de
The system has passed ubuntus memtest is this enough in regards to memorey? it also passed the HDD west point stress test.
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
checking for bios updates now but I tried this prior to sending the comp off to dell and it still blue screened me.
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
NO overclocking has been done
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
no third part anything is installed
- low-level driver problems
How do i detect low level driver issues? shouldn't a clean install of Win 8 have fixed this?
- or even
malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics orHardware Diagnostics ).
scanned and re-scanned no malware has been detected

I am not familiar with Ubuntu's memory test - this is the memory test that I suggest: Memory Diagnostics

I only suggest using the HDD test from the manufacturer of the hard drive. If none is available, then I suggest the Seagate Seatools test.

The hardest thing that we have to prove at work (I work at a PC repair shop) is a fault with a motherboard. We have to rule out all other hardware by using all the tests that we have, then we have to reinstall Windows "clean" and have to be able to reproduce the problem. Then we send it off to the service center telling them what we've done. In most cases they just replace the mobo - but on occasion they'll disagree and not replace anything. Unfortunately they don't communicate their reasons to us - so we don't get to figure out why.

It's difficult to get a system without any 3rd party drivers - as the hardware on the system was manufactured by 3rd party vendors.
For example, you need a Realtek driver for your network card and you need Intel drivers for your hard drive controller and your video card.

A "clean" install should have fixed the problem if it was a Windows issue. A clean install is (IMO) either an installation from a Genuine Windows disk with all Windows Updates added - or a system restored by the manufacturer's recovery disk with no added updates/programs. As noted above, there are just some 3rd party drivers that you can't avoid - and there are some that are installed when Windows is installed.

IMO this is a hardware problem - and it's most likely with the motherboard simply because the other tests didn't find it. The diagnostics that I suggest are a bit different than those that Dell uses - so they may detect something that Dell couldn't.

When attempting to fix BSOD issues, we look at 3 possible problems:
1) 3rd party (non-Windows) drivers (these are responsible for over 90% of all BSOD's)
2) hardware problems (these are responsible for less than 10% of all BSOD's)
3) Windows drivers (these are responsible for less than 1% of all BSOD's - as long as the system has all Windows Updates).

I've looked and don't see any issues/potential issues with 3rd party drivers
If you've done a "clean" install, then that should have ruled out Windows driver issues.
And that leaves only hardware as the cause (IMO).

The next step (after the hardware diagnostics) is to replace parts until you figure out what the problem is ( Hardware Stripdown Troubleshooting ) Unfortunately, laptops aren't designed for this step - so it's usually not possible to replace anything but the RAM and HDD (which were tested with the hardware diagnostics.

Which brings you back to dealing with Dell again (or the retailer who sold you the computer). Point out the clean install to them - and show them the work that you've done to try and rule out different problems.

Good luck!
