Hi,

Let me first introduce myself, my name is Jelmer, i'm 20 years old and i'm from the Netherlands. I study ICT and i'm very interested in all ICT related stuff.

I own a Samsung chronos 7 series notebook (NP700Z5C-S01). I Replaced the HDD for an SSD and replaced the optical drive for the HDD. Also i disabled the internal 8gb SSD. So i've got a SSD and a HDD in my notebook.

A few weeks ago it was time for a re-install of my notebook and i decided i wanted to take a look at windows 8. So i installed windows 8 and installed the drivers (all available from the Samsung website) without any problems. After that i started to install my software and that also wasn't a problem. It all ran smoothly and without problems for about a week. The only problem i sometimes have is that my WiFi won't auto connect (i'm 2 meters away from the router) but i can live with that.

After a week it started to crash once or 2 times in a week, sometimes when booting from standby the screen just stays black and i have to hold the power switch until it falls out so i can boot again. also sometimes a program wont respond anymore and every other program i use also starts to hang up untill everything is stuck and i have to use the power switch again to reboot. I have to say that sometimes after a few minutes of hanging up it starts to respond again and it works perfectly after that. The hanging up doesn't always happen at the same program, it can be anything.

I know this can be a tough problem and that's why i'm posting on this forum. My computer skills are fine but i just don't know how to find this kind of problems. I don't know where i need to start searching. Can someone give me any tips to solve this problem. or does anyone recognize this problem and know how to solve it?

I hope someone can help me.

Greetings, Jelmer

Start by running these diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
You can run a hard drive diagnostic inside of Windows (rather than the one I suggest outside of Windows)
You'll have to figure out how to run MemTest86+ from a USB drive tho' - there's no reliable "in Windows" test (although if you're familiar with Linux you may be able to launch it from there - I can't do this).

Also, we'll need these reports even though you're not showing BSOD's: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html
