Solved BSOD on start up

I've been getting blue screens recently and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to where they are coming from. They only happen about 60 seconds after initially turning on my PC, at which time it gives me the error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE and reboots. Once the PC is rebooted it runs fine until it is shutdown. When I start up the computer the next time I use it, the BSOD will happen again.

One thing that I notice is that even when I try to totally shut down the computer, when I turn it on it will still start from a screen that says "Resuming from Hibernation." I know that this was not always the case, and usually I would see a screen with my motherboard manufacturer on it first.

Any advice on how to proceed trying to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I ran the program and shut down and restarted my PC, and it started fine (although it still said resuming from hibernation when I completely shut it down).

I should have been a little bit more clear in my description of the problem. When at the "Resuming from Hibernation" screen, it will either continue on within 2-5 seconds, or hang there for about 20-30 seconds. If it hangs there, then I know I will be receiving a blue screen shortly. If it starts up quickly, then I never see the blue screen that session.

Also, it seems like the blue screens show up when the computer has been idle for a while (for example at the beginning of the day or when I get home from work). If I shut down and restart the PC in quick succession it will usually start up normally.

I will report back if I see a blue screen in the morning.

Yup. When I turned on my computer this morning, it hung up on the Resuming from Hibernation screen, then once it started up it BSOD'd about a minute later.

Thank you! I can't believe it was something that simple, but now when I shut down and power on my machine I don't see the resuming from hibernation screen. Since that was the only time I would see the BSOD, I'm going to assume for now that the problem is fixed but I'll report back if I see the problem again.

Thanks again.
