Hello,

I am new to this forum, and I was hoping to ask for some assistance. Lately, my laptop has been experiencing BSOD when entering sleep mode, and I am stumped as to why it is happening. Day-to-day usage is unhindered, but as soon as the computer goes to sleep on its own, it shuts down and reports an error when I start it back up. As per the instructions, I have attached the necessary information.

This is in your eventsys.txt file you uploaded

Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications. Please visit Working with the AppInit_DLLs registry value for more information.

Its basically saying that something abnormal is going on with your applications.

It looks like theyre being intercepted.

Download Spybot search and destroy and run a scan, if its malware or malicious spybot will find most if not all of them..

I believe it's at 90W, though I am not quite sure. Also, I ran the scanner you suggested several times; it picked up a few malicious items, which it then cleaned. However, it hasn't stopped the BSOD from occurring.

Ok, lets see if its hardware or software before we do too much unnecessary testing..

Start the computer in safemode with networking.

use the computer as you would normally

Let it go to sleep or put it to sleep. which ever normally occurs when you have this issue.

Let it sit a few mins, wake the computer..

If wakes ok then

Browse your pc, open programs, browse web.. put it to sleep again...

wake up the pc, if wakes with no issues then it appears that you have a software issue

If crash then its a physical problem such as harddisk error, damaged file, or hardware..

In either case.. first backup files you want to keep safe on an external media.

From the start menu start typing CMD at which point cmd.exe will be displayed on the left

right click the cmd.exe , it will check itself, look on the bottom as run as administrator, and click it

Now you are at a command prompt type CHKDSK /F

UAC will pop up, click yes

It may say it needs to rebooot to carry out command, type Y or yes

reboot

now wait.. get coffee, food whatever itll be a few mins....

when its done reboot the computer in normal mode, do some things, let pc sleep.. then wake it up

Here are two files to put your pc in and out of safemode

run safemode boot only once , the laptop will stay in safemode until you execute the other file regardless of whether you restart the pc or not..

Run normal mode only after the chkdsk command has finished

Going to sleep in safe mode seemed to be fine. While the computer wouldn't actually go to sleep by itself (the screen would go dark, but the laptop would stay on), there was no problem sending it to sleep manually then resuming Windows. I guess that would mean that this is probably a software problem?

Lets default your power plans to its original settings, it may have been accidentally tweaked to a disadvantage..

From an elevated command prompt type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes.

Now set your preferred times/minutes for sleep and or hibernate. then save

Run the normal boot file if you havent already, and lets see if its sleeping correctly now..

Actually, before you sent that post, I had decided to reset the power options. I remembered that I had changed them a few days ago because I felt that my computer was going to sleep too quickly. If I remember properly, it was after I did that that the BSOD(s) started happening.

I didn't do it exactly as you prescribed, but I did go to the Power Options section in the Control Panel and clicked on "Restore default settings for this plan". I left my computer on, it went to sleep, and resumed normally. It seems to be fine now, but should I still do what you asked?

LMAO, I debated sending you through that menu to get to 'set default' but it was too much typing, so i went with the command prompt option instead..

But thats it, they both do the same thing..

It probably was a bad tweak somewhere.. It happened to me on a laptop i lowered the processor speed by 5 percent and this processor goes all or half so it went to half speed! Uggh.. But i eventually found it in the myriad of options in the power plan.

Hope this was your fix as well..
