I love the Dev Preview so far. We were getting on so well. And then the (reimagine) blue screen of death shows up, with it's sad face. I thought I might have said something to upset it. "Shhh, it's okay winona, shhh" I said, stroking the screen comfortingly. And then she reboots. And BSOD's. Repeat X times till I also have a sad face on.

The error I'm getting is "Page Error in Non-Paged Area". This started after a BSOD relating to it falling idle for roughly 25 minutes (I've heard of other people getting this, but not my problem after). The system this is running on is an AMD Turion 64 X2 @ 2.1GHz, 3Gb DDR2 RAM, ATI HD3200, 250GB hdd. My standard issue test bed, since my Asus broke I've been using this in the mean time.

I've taken the HDD out and whacked it into my server (cause I'm just that cool), the file system is intact, ChkDsk doesn't find any integrity issues, and there's no bad sectors (allegedly). On top of this, the boot sector also seems in tact. I've done a test of both my memory modules, taking one out and testing the other on it's own - the error still occurs, so I'm led to assume a driver or something is causing the issue.
DVD drive on my test bed doesn't work, died ages ago, so that's not helpful, but I can extract dumps etc onto my server if anyone's able to help with this.

And if anyone can fix it - the beers and/or cookies are on me.
(can't upload anything right now as I'm away from all 3 computers)

Hello there!

Seems like some critical Windows process was terminated to cause the system crash. The process while it crashes was TM.exe which is suspicious. Run Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper - Windows 7 Forums see if it finds any infection on your system. If it didn't then run Repair Install i.e. Refresh PC ( http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2293-refresh-windows-8-a.html )

Also disable the Modem or update the drivers :
Code:
 VSTAZL6.SYS Thu Oct 16 06:23:42 2008
VSTCNXT6.SYS Thu Oct 16 06:22:22 2008
VSTDPV6.SYS Thu Oct 16 06:27:45 2008
Code:
CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION (f4)
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been
terminated.
Several processes and threads are necessary for the operation of the
system; when they are terminated (for any reason), the system can no
longer function.

It has to be said that the Refresh feature is something that a lot of people will find incredibly useful, and quite a welcome addition for me. Thanks for the help!

I got the same error after installing avast using windows 7 compatibility mode. For some reason there is no restore point saved, so now I will have to reinstall.

Why not just refresh it...! Back to its early state without much effort... :)
