Driver_Power_State_Failure

Computer is slow as all get out on start up. Takes forever for it to load. Upon receiving the laptop from a friend of mine, I opened up MSCONFIG and somehow it was already on selective boot. Unsure of what was actually disabled, I returned the option to normal startup. I checked device manager and the Realtek GBE family controller was disabled. Enabled that and restarted. It does boot, not as fast as it should, but the system does respond a lot quicker now. I'm still getting the BSoD though (Driver_Power_State_Failure). Attached is the ZIP file containing everything needed to help diagnose this issue.

I would usually fiddle around more than I have before coming here, but I'm new to Windows 8 and still trying to figure out how to navigate through it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

No, I ended up reinstalling Windows to narrow it down to either a software error or a hardware error. The BSoD was still persistent after the fresh install, so I chalked it up to a hardware issue and gave it back to my so called friend, since it's still under warranty. She got it back and called me a liar. Said I never even worked on it. My choosing to no longer be friends. Took the time out of my schedule to do what I could since she is in school (which, I admire anyone trying to get further in life, thus I go out of my way to fix something which they need for school) just to get this treatment. Sooo. Yeah. Still pretty bitter about this.

Glad to hear you're doing better. Thank you for getting back to me. As I venture through learning how to deal with Windows 8, I'm sure I'll be back here.

Sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations with your "friend"
It's not unusual to hear when someone grows attached to an inanimate device. I hear similar things at work on a regular basis - and my response is the same as yours. I terminate the relationship and ask them never to come back.
