Hi I only get the BSOD blue screen when waking from sleep mode only and its always the same message. Just bought this laptop a month ago. The message is Driver IRQL not less or equal athw8x.sys
So I already uninstalled my wireless driver which was out of date and updated it to latest manufacture version, but I still keep getting this same message when waking from sleep.

I don't flame. If I get upset enough, I'll ignore a person - but only after an attempt or two to set things right.

In general a reset to factory settings will fix any 3rd party driver problems - but adding other 3rd party programs may cause problems.

This is how I suggest we proceed:
In this case, the athw8x.sys driver continues to be blamed. There's several possibilities here:
1) the athw8x.sys drive is defective (we have seen issues with this driver in Win8 recently)
2) there is another program/driver using the wireless connection and it's causing problems
3) the wireless card itself if defective (broken).
There's more possibilities than this, but these are the one's that I'm concerned with right now.

Item 1) - try using different versions of the driver to see if all of them cause problems.

Item 2) - run Driver Verifier according to these directions: Driver Verifier Settings

Item 3) - replace the wireless card (not real easy on most laptops). See if you can get it repaired under warranty (if possible). We've had a couple of defective wireless cards at work that use this driver (the latest was an Asus). The only way to verify it is to replace the wireless card and test to see if it's fixed.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's (after Driver Verifier), please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there. There are no specific wireless tests here - so it won't necessarily show anything.

Ok I sent it in because I still had warranty on it. They ended up sending me a brand new laptop. But now I have a problem with flashplayer. In internet explorer if I go to youtube and try and play a video it tells me to download and install latest flash player, but when i go the the adobe website to download it basically tells me that internet explorer comes with it. I already disabled active x but still it keeps giving me this error. I only use IE because for some weird reason google chrome won't play any yahoo videos works fine on youtube but IE can play yahoo videos fine. Please help me!

I'm not real good with flash/IE issues, I'd suggest posting over in the Browsers & Mail forums for more expert advice: Browsers & Mail - Windows 8 Forums

FWIW - Flash is updated via Windows Update in Win8. So to get the latest version you've gotta make sure you're up to date on Windows Updates.

Help

Got the new laptop but got the same problem again here is the zip. I think it might be the program instant on that comes with asus but I really have no idea this replacement laptop is way faster and better glad I had it replaced. Also I deleted Asus Live update because it was very buggy. what is a way I can keep all my drivers up to date without manually checking the support site?

Looks just like the other errors - funny that it should happen on another laptop
Please list all changes that you made to the new laptop - particularly any software that you've installed.

Please ensure that the wireless drivers are updated, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

the only thing i installed on it was fox new and cnn app. Also I updated all drivers I could find that were out of date such as wireless. I also did a command run netplwiz which I clicked to get rid of any user password so I don't have to put one upon wake up or start up thus getting rid of that annoying windows 8 lockscreen. the only thing I installed was malewarebytes but I was getting the error before installing. Also the issue didn't happen today. Oh yea I also insatlled utorrent but haven't used it.

OK I updated both ATK hotkey and the other atkwmiacp and uninstalled asus charger plus. I didn't run driver verifier as I did not backup all my updated drivers and settings on my windows 8 I don't want to ruin it just yet. Also when I talked to a asus technician he said he thought the problem was something to do with usb, but he told me just to keep updating everyday and I should be fine. They said if I run windows update that it will also update my drivers which is not the case because I had to manually update a lot of drivers.

OK I'm running driver verifier now I picked all the drivers except the microsoft ones, I'll let it run for 36 hours so far no BSOD. I read that there is a setting to force IRQL checking should i also run that? Also should I try reinstalling the wireless driver?

If you're not getting BSOD's, then don't do anything - just wait and see if you get one!
If you are getting BSOD's, please zip up the contents of C:\Windows\Minidump and upload it with your next post.

Since your errors include "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)" it's a good idea to enable "Force IRQL checking" in Driver Verifier.
Actually, the instructions include this when specifying
Select everything EXCEPT FOR "IRP Logging", "Force Pending I/O Requests" and "Low Resource Simulation"....

yea ok I didn't click on the individual settings now I see what you were talking about ok. Only other thing I ran driver verifier in normal mode I was not in safe mode is that a problem?
These are the steps I took ran sysdm.cpl and unchecked automatic restart in start up and recovery. Then I run verifier.exe and I went exactly through the steps on that website you gave me, then I clicked finished and restarted my laptop.
