W8 Clock_watchdog_timeout (dumps attached)

Found similar posts, but none of the solutions worked for me.

The PC crashes, typically when there is heavy load, and the sound sort of repeats itself until the BSOD and CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT appears.

I run a desktop with Intel CPU and Windows 8. Dump is attached.

Your BIOS dates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard! I STRONGLY suggest not using controller drivers older than mid-2012 with SSD's.
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.

27 Feb 2013 - I'm starting to see much better reliability with SSD's using current (mid-2012 and later) storage drivers. I have withdrawn my objections to using these devices in everyday systems.

This device is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?:

Thank you very much for taking the time to look into my problem.

I don't know why the Bluetooth says disabled, it is working here.

I uninstalled the four drivers you mentioned and made a new dump. I hope this already fixed the problem, but if it happens again I guess I should try looking for SSD-drivers or in worst case, flash the BIOS.

If you have time to look at the new dump, I'd appreciate it.

Edit: Crashed again, I'll try updating SSD-drivers.

Update Intel storage controller drivers and JMicron storage controller drivers.
Make sure that the SSD is connected to the Intel controller (NOT the JMicron).

Remove LogMeIn
Remove VirtualCloneCD
You can reinstall them later on - but we want to rule them out for now.

There are no further memory dumps. This means that Windows didn't recognize the memory dump or didn't collect it. Most likely (IMO) this is a hardware problem. Please start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
FWIW - if the SSD is involved you may have to install Windows on a platter based drive in order to see if it's the SSD.

I've now tried updating every driver I can, including the SSD. I've also successfully flashed the bios, but the problem with crashing still concurs. It's the kind of crash where everything freezes and the last sound played repeats itself endlessly until sometimes the Win8 BSOD comes up and shows the CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT, but other times nothing happens and I have to reboot manually.

I've attached a new dump in hope of finding out what's causing this.

Remove the program associated with hamachi.sys. This driver dates from 2009 and is likely not compatible with Win8.
If you can't find the program, post back for instructions on how to safely remove it manually.

Have you run the hardware diagnostics that I suggested previously? If so, what were the results?

Are you monitoring temperatures, including those in the video card? I suggest this free program to do that: HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

On a hunch, please provide this info:

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

In short, the BSOD's don't name a driver that's to blame.
The reports are nearly clean of 3rd party problems (the hamachi.sys driver is the last one)
The next most common issue is hardware - that's why the diagnostics are important at this point.

At one point we well also suggest testing the Windows installation. This would be a good time to try a platter based hard drive also. There's no need to activate the Windows installation as it'll only be for testing (and if you decide to keep it, you have 30 days to activate it). Uninstalled Hamachi and still got the crash.

Ran HWiNFO and checked the sensors. At max temperatures the GPU gets up to 76 C and CPU 90 C (!).

Attached the Admin event file.

You've gotta fix the CPU cooling solution - high temps like that will cause the system to either BSOD, or to just shut down.
The Admin event logs tend to confirm it with the EventID 41 Critical errors
