Solved IRQL Not Less or Equal/Clock Watchdog Timeout

Hello EightForums, I had recently installed 2 more modules of 4GB RAM, bringing my total up to 16GB. I have gotten a few BSOD's since then, two of them being IRQL_not_less_or_equal and Clock_watchdog_timeout. I tried manually setting the timings in my bios, and dropping my command rate for both sets of ram from 1 to 2. I'd appreciate it if you guys could look over the files.

Best Regards,
Joginder

You have 2 BSOD's: 1 caused by crss.exe and the other caused by: chrome.exe. With a random crash and you recently added 2 modules of RAM so it may be something wrong with the RAM.

Are they the same brand and model # ? if not, they might have problem with timings. If they are, go into BIOS, relax the timings a little bit, make it 10-10-10-26-2T for example, and also manually set the voltage slightly higher to see if it cures the problem.

BTW, When adding new RAM. It is also advisable that you run the memory diagnostic for at least 8-10 hours.

TopgunDCP, they are the same brand, Corsair LP, CML8GX3M2A1600C9, purchased from 2 different vendors and at different times. Thank you for the advice in memtest86+, I will try running it with the 2 original modules, and then the 2 new ones. Should I still be lowering the timings/bumping the voltage?

Sometimes if you have the voltage set in the BIOS to "Auto", it will not set to the correct value according to the RAM spec. For example, My RAM is required 1.65v and when using a program to monitor the voltage in Windows, it's set to 1.62V so I have to set it to 1.67v to get 1.65v shown in Windows. Unless you buy the RAM as a set that was previously tested by the vendor, there's also no guarantee that the timings is exactly the same even they are from same vendor & model, that's why I suggest to relax the timings a little bit. However, to avoid further complication, you should run the memtest.

Cheers !!!

I guess it's a RAM problem, but I'm not a specialist.

It's not your case, but to get my overclocked DDR2 (800 >> 1000 MHz) stable I had to push voltage to 2.05v and relax timings from CL4 to CL5.

:)

I suggest that you run memtest. Before you go to bed, make sure all the modules seated firmly into the MB, start the test and let it run over night without the new RAM. The BSOD this time is different from the 2 previous.

I think I found what might be causing the issues. The AMD Uninstall Utility for Catalyst has been wiping sections of the control panel for multiple users. Some have been reporting BSOD's as well. I think I will try to wipe my SSD clean, and reinstall windows completely. From: Win 8 users - WARNING about AMD Uninstallation Utility!

I will try running memtest tonight, but I am now 90% sure this is the source of my problems, as sections of my control panel were missing as well, and I "refreshed", not reinstalled, windows.

Memtest has run for 8 hours, with no stability issues. I will wipe my disk with secure erase, and re-install windows new, as I am confident that this is the issue. Will report back

Final Update: I have reinstalled windows 8, wiping the disk with Secure Erase and installing it fresh on the SSD, currently have the 16GB of ram in @ 2T, and have run memtest successfully. I'm pretty sure that the AMD driver uninstall utility was the source of my problems, as it would remove sections of my control panel when it ran, directly after a fresh install of windows. I would recommend that anyone needing to uninstall AMD drivers use another program or do so manually until that issue is resolved. Thank you for the help :)
