Hi All,
I'm been having problems on my netbook running W8 for the last couple of days.
When my girlfriend was using it, she did have a blue screen (I believe it was worker_thread_restored_at_bad_irql). . More often than not it would just hang - the blue circle would spin and spin. I wasn't sure if the SSD was failing (it's about four months old). I did a system restore to before the problems started, which didn't seem to fix anything.
She also had an error with Norton Internet Security, which unfortunately she can't remember the exact wording of, but it was some kind of repair tool. I later completely uninstalled Norton, using the removal tool (it wouldn't let me uninstall through control panel). And reinstalled, and it seemed to be stable. But now it won't shut down properly (it hangs when shutting down), however it doesn't seem to be crashing. The blue disc spins a lot more than it used to - the system seems to be thinking about stuff quite a bit!
There are numerous error messages in the event log viewer. I'm not sure which should be posted (or anything else). It's not crashing per se, so don't know if I'll have the memory dumps, but I've attached screen shot of my latest event viewer.
It's an Asus 1000HE and the specs are:
Windows 8 Pro
2GB RAM
Atom N280 1,66ghz CPU
128GB Verbatim SATAII SSD
Norton Internet Security 2013
Not much installed apart from Skype, Chrome, Firefox, ccleaner, Media Player Classic, Office Pro 2010, Div X stuff.
Sorry for the lack of info, but most of this happened when I wasn't there. If there is anything else I can post that can be of any help, please let me know.
Thanks loads in anticipation!
ps just added zip file from the SF diagnostic tool, as I had a BSOD - there was no worker_thread... type message with it though!
