Greetings. I have, unfortunately, had 5 crashes this morning, shortly after one another. I have downloaded and utilized the SF Diagnostic Tool and am attaching a zipped copy of the report. Any and all assistance with this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Ken

Hi there,

Things to do:

  1. If you're over clocking any hardware, reset it to the default value.
  2. Make sure Windows is up-to date.
  3. Run SFC /Scannow to check/repair file system integrity. Full tutorial here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html
  4. Run chkdsk to repair any errors on the hard drive. Full tutorial here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6221-chkdsk-check-drive-errors-windows-8-a.html
  5. If the above option fails, enable Driver Verifier to find out which driver is causing these BSODs and upload the dump files again. Here's how to enable Driver Verifier: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable - Windows 7 Support Forums

Thanks for the info dinesh. I ran both the SFC and checkdisk but neither of them turned up any problems. I have enabled the Driver Verifier and now the computer is running more sluggish than my 10+ year old Presario. I assume this is normal. I'll let it run for 24 hours as the instructions indicated. They also stated "expect frequent BSODs if there are driver issues" If so I'll be certain to post the results of them here.

I underestimated how slow everything is now. It worse than the dinosaur I used before I got this. Taking forever to load a page, locking up with "not responding" messages. This really can't be normal can it? This Driver Verifier can't be slowing it down this bad? It says to "continue using the PC as usual". That's impossible now. I've only had this since 12-25-12 and the feeling of finally being in the modern world had barely set in now I'm back tot he days of dial-up it seems. :(

It crashed again this morning. I wasn't on last night after I posted so I didn't get to run the MEMTEST. I'll get that done today.
Here's the report from the crash this morning, just in case there's something different:

I can't get the memtest to work no matter what I do. I put it on a USB and it failed to load. I put it on two different CD's and it still won't load. I've altered the BIOS several times to make it load from either one and it does nothing but boot normally. I even opened the iso directly from the cd and got an error message that boot files can not be opened unless formatted with the NTFS file system. I tried strarting it by opening the iso directly on te hard drive and it stated it was corrupted. Neither computer I have has Windows Disc Image Burner. The old one has Imgburn, Nero and a few others and this one only came with CyberLink. I'm at a complete loss.

I ran a Troubleshooter on the hardware and Windows update. The former detected a problem with the Win Update in that is was set to not automatically update to new drivers. After running the troubleshooter on Win Update it said it both discovered the problem and fixed it so I'm hoping very much that this was the issue. So far so good.

Can you boot to any other disks? To test, try one of the hard drive diagnostics here: Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Traces of your antivirus in one of the dumps. I'd suggest 2 things:
1) run a couple of these free scans to make sure that nothing has gotten by your current protection: Free Online AntiMalware Resources
2) download a fresh copy of your antivirus, then uninstall the current copy - then install the freshly downloaded copy, update it, and perform a full-scan (just in case)

Please uninstall the Cyberlink software due to it's age:
CLVirtualDrive.sys Mon Dec 26 05:26:47 2011 (4EF87617)
CyberLink Virtual Device Driver
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=CLVirtualDrive.sys

Since Driver Verifier didn't pickup any problems with 3rd party drivers - then we presume that 3rd party drivers aren't to be blamed. This leaves us with hardware or Windows problems. Since you have issues booting from a disk, we have to wonder if there's an issue with your CD/DVD drive (or maybe your BIOS?). Testing the drive with other bootable disks will give you a clue. If the system fails to boot from other disks, then try removing the disk from the system to see if that stops the problems that you're having.'
