BSOD 0x03b System Service Exception

I get random BSODs please check my dump file what does it mean? it says it involves the win32k.sys and ntoskrnl.exe.Bugcheck error code 0x03b System Service Exception

Here's the SF diagnostic tool zip file - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24822391/Hpw8s.zip

It's an hp pavillion netbook dm1
Windows 8AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD graphics
2GB RAM
64 bit OS
Windows defender as anti-virus

I already checked the drivers in the device manager. I clicked on the Update driver software for each of the drivers I can find there. This error started last night, I was normally browsing the internet. Just had firefox on then suddenly I got into this random BSOD. I was thinking maybe it was the error in downloading windows update. I got MS office 2007 suites updates failed to install (mostly because of my internet connection) - separate problem where I cant fully download things.

So I tried downloading the other failed updates starting with the Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2795944) which was successful. Last night I also did the fixing of registry using Auslogics Registry Cleaner. Also tried defragmenting and using ccleaner. I thought those things fixed the problem last night but when I turned my laptop on this morning and have just started connecting to the internet when suddenly I get the same BSOD system service exception. It restarted. then for some minutes I got another BSOD while browsing in firefox. And again while browsing the net. after a just a few minutes. HELP!

When having problems with your system drivers I suggest checking at the device manufacturer's website for updates. Don't use the Update Drivers function in Device Manager as it only checks Windows Update (and those drivers are often too old to be helpful to you)

There are no memory dumps in the uploaded reports. Please check in C:\Windows\Minidump for them.
If not there, then try this: Set MiniDump
Also, check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.dmp If it's there, zip it up and upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link to it here.

The WER reports in MSINFO32 show errors with ewusbnet.sys and netr28x.sys
ewusbnet.sys is likely to be your USB modem device (ewusbnet HUAWEI USB-NDIS minipo Kernel 12/7/2009 7:35:29 PM ), while netr28x.sys is for your wireless card (netr28x Ralink 802.11n Extensi Kernel 8/8/2012 10:27:28 PM ).
Please update both of these to the latest, Win8 compatible version.

Hi Thanks for replying. Sorry for the incomplete file. Here's the link to the minidumps and memory dmp file

I just checked my RAlink update (saw it as an optional windows update) but it failed to install. Now it doesn't let me re-install it (it's gone from the available updates). Do you know where I can download the latest?

For the USB modem, I'd still have to search if they have any version already available that's w8 compatible (probably none yet). If I just leave that for now, will that alone cause BSODs?

I've also already updated my display driver (13.1 ATI/AMD WHQL driver). No BSODs so far but I'll still update the ones you suggested. Do I also need to update my audio driver? Is it also causing any errors?

Did you uninstall anything other than Firefox? It's unusual for a program like Firefox to cause BSOD's.

another BSOD!!!

I guess my BSODs are really random! I just got one a few minutes ago. I was just about to close a tab which contained a video (was streaming anime) from my google chrome browser when suddenly I got that smiley blue face again..sigh...I had printscreened a part on that video too, now that's gone and I have to go back to re-loading that video till mid part just to capture that frame that I wanted. damn!

Here's my link to the dump file and other info -

Can you PLEAAAASE tell me what's going on? it's caused by ntoskrnl.exe again (according to BlueScreenView).

bsod again :(

Sure no prob, I can wait. Thank you.

Here's the link to the second BSOD (the one with the broken link on my previous post)
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24822391/hpw8s-bsod.zip

Now here's the link to my new BSOD (just a few minutes earlier). I had chrome browser, windows media player (on pause mode), connectify, MS Excel, notepad++ and utorrent running when it went BSOD.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24822391/hpw8s-bsod2.zip

I think I may have updated the driver for the USB modem. There wasn't any patch available that's windows 8 compatible in the usb modem's brand's website. But then, an update referring to it came from my windows update list which says- ZTE Incorporated - Other Hardware - Mass Storage Filter. (My modem is zte and it's usb so i think this was it) It was successfully installed. Do you think that was really the update for it?

So now for the other driver, my network adapter which is the RAlink RT3290 802.11bgn wifi adapter, I downloaded the version on hp.com site. My current version says it's 2012-9-7- Version: 5.0.3.0. I downloaded the version on hp website according to my notebook's model and now the version is 2012-10-29, Version:5.0.5.0 - currently installing... I chose "overwrite existing etc" when it prompted that "there's an old version detected" (along those lines) and options to choose to "remove all" or "overwrite". Did I just do that correctly hmm..

Now it's installed. When I checked in the device manager, current version is 5.0.5.0 dated 2012-9-21 (date was odd but anyway the version is the same).

I was thinking of updating my audio driver as well. Do you think I should do it now, or should I wait to get another BSOD, just to check which one solved it?

Now I tried uninstalling programs. Uninstalled auslogics registry cleaner, auglogics disk defragmenter, and my other broadband program (huawei). I will now also update my audio driver.

sigh I wonder what can solve this. I should've bought a laptop with windows 7 instead.

I encountered 2 more crashes right after updating IDT Audio driver & HP CoolSense and uninstalling all the programs mentioned above.
Here's the link to the latest dump files - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24822391/hpw8s-bsod4.zip

As of 22:00, I've updated the following drivers:

Got another BSOD just after the updates above - Here's the dump file - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24822391/022113-20826-01.dmp

Finished installing the following:

I tend to leave things alone unless I have a reason to update them.
Let's just wait for now and see if you have further BSOD's
Just FYI - your ZTE stuff is still outdated - but let's see if it's going to work out for you.

I include this just in case the BSOD's return. Don't do any of it unless they do return.

Only 329 mB of free RAM - this is severely hurting your system performance. Please consider upgrading your RAM to at least 4 gB. If unable to upgrade the RAM, make sure that you only run one program at a time and that you trim the system startups and system tray to remove any running programs (in order to conserve RAM).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Didn't get anything past the first page of posts. Ran this dump just before I left for work. Got the same basic error again. Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Thanks for your replies usasma :) Really appreciate it.

I haven't had any BSODs for 2 days now. I looked up the other posts here and found out a windows update that caused bsods for other w8 users. I uninstalled KB2778344 and so far I think I'm stable.

Haven't updated the drivers you mentioned yet. I still couldn't find the driver for the old zte modem i have (I tried searching in the websites you gave, but no luck). I'll see if I get any bsods after this. Maybe I can get by.
