DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (another thread)

Hello,

I've received the BSoD intermittently due to this error, and would very much appreciate an analysis of my dump file. (It happens on start-up most of the time on first try, but not twice in a row yet.)

I am running an SSD; I have read about and am aware of the potential issues this may be causing. Overall, I'm really just wondering how much of this error is due to the SSD, or if it might be stemming from something else (as well?).

I upgraded my 2 year-old custom built Windows 7 rig to Windows 8 last week. I have not made any hardware changes in more than 6 months.

I stumbled on a suggestion on another forum that I'd like to try first. They suggest that I may have two conflicting instances of my ATI graphics driver software installed at once - apparently it isn't a terribly uncommon issue. The symptoms sound very similar to mine.

They posted a great step-by-step guide to uninstall the old drivers and install a new driver, but there's quite a bit to it. I'll try to make time to tackle it tomorrow.


If that doesn't alleviate my BSoD, I'll be back to request further assistance.
