Hello, I seek help with a current issue that I am having with my laptop. Before I describe the issue I will post my specification in order to possibly make it easier to help me. The laptop is of Asus brand and the model is a G73jh. The specifications are as follows.
Intel core i7 749QM
6GB of DDR3 Memory
1GB ATI Mobility Raedeon HD 5870
Windows 8 64 bit
Now to try and attempt to describe my problem. I previously had Windows 7, out of nowhere my laptop would freeze, the image would just freeze on the screen and stay there. Thinking that maybe the operating system possibly had corrupt files or something of the likes I decided to buy Windows 8 and do a clean install hoping to fix the issue. After installing Windows 8 the problem persisted, it continues to freeze and just hang there until I hold the power button down. In a desperate attempt to solve this issue I updated the BIOS to the latest version, ran the seagate SeaTools program to see if possibly the hard drive had an issue and it passed the test. It will stay on for a couple hours and then just freeze as i am doing random tasks within the operating system but does not give me any sort of error or BSOD. I even updated the graphics drivers for the AMD card. At one point the laptop even shut all the way off completely and when I pushed the power button would not start, only after a few minutes would it power back on. That issue however has only happened twice whereas the freezing happens just about every time. It has even frozen at the boot screen at times. I received one BSOD however which was a WATCHDOG_VIOLATION while I was in safe mode, but right as the percentage screen popped up for fixing it also froze.
Two other times that it froze was when I was doing the Windows updates right after installing Windows 8. Another while I was updating apps within Windows 8 and then several times whilst navigating through the user interface. I am lost now on what to do, I need my laptop for next semester but it will not even stay on for over 1-2 hours without freezing.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated, I set it up to create minidump files so if the BSOD happens again maybe that can help you all help me.
Thank you in advance.
