I've recently installed Windows 8 Pro (32 bit) on an ASUS X5DIN laptop which was previously running Windows 7 Home Premium. At random (but frequent) intervals, the computer will freeze entirely, with the cursor disappearing and any audio getting stuck in a loop. The laptop doesn't respond to any input and the only thing that can be done is to hold the power button to turn it off.
I've tried disabling dynamic ticks, enabling Hyper-V, fixing an issue with a missing co-processor driver, updating audio, touchpad and graphics drivers and reinstalling ASUS ATK utilities, none of which have any effect on stopping the problem. I've seen a few similar threads here and on other forums, but they contained generally personalised information for the user. Is there anything I can upload to help fix the issue, or any suggestions for what could be done?
One thing to note is that ASUS don't seem to supply Windows 8 drivers, so the driver updates I've applied are actually Windows 7 ones. (From here ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download K50IN ).
