Hello!

My Windows 8 has been working really well for the past few weeks on my Asus K50ID laptop, but yesterday when I installed COMODO firewall and antivirus, it asked me to restart and I did but now when i have typed in my password, only a black screen with only my cursor appears. I have tried reinstalling nvidia drivers in safe mode but it doesnt work.

I managed to open task manager and tried running explorer.exe and a gray taskbar appears to the bottom and after a few seconds its gone. So, I right clicked one of the processes and selected "Open file location" and it opened Windows Explorer and i can normally go through my files. Then I decided to try running Chrome.exe from task manager and boom, Chrome opened and Im actually writing this on my broken Windows 8 using Chrome and the SF Diagnostic Tool just finished its job and I will upload the file to this post.

I have tried system restore with rstrui.exe but it say i have no restore points! I have made a few restore points while I have been setting up and installing stuff to Windows and iObit Uninstaller has also made some restore points when I have uninstalled stuff.

E: In safe mode everything works just fine.

You have a problem that's not just as simple as pressing a button to fix.
Add to that that there's not that many people who are technically experienced troubleshooting problems in Win8 and you get a dealy before a response is given.

As for this particular problem, please uninstall the Comodo, then try a refresh of the OS through the troubleshooting steps. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2293-refresh-windows-8-a.html

Why does something like this even happen? I thought Windows 8 was supposed to be stable already and now every time i install something i have to pray this doesnt happen again? And why the hell arent there any restore points stored but i have everything else? Well **** this, im gonna do the refresh and now i can only pray the freezing issue doesnt start again! Damn Windows 8 all the way from CP has been such a pain in the ass yet i still want to use it and it did work well for several weeks before this happened. At least this time i was smart enough to give Win7 some room and dual boot.

Windows 8 is stable. But when you start throwing all sorts of 3rd party software at it, it's bound to hiccup.
It's like putting bad gas in your brand new car - it's not gonna run no matter how trouble free the car is. It's the gas (3rd party software) that's the problem - not the car (Windows 8).

Good luck to you and I hope that you are able to solve your problems.

Okay I did the refresh now but my worst nightmare has returned: random freezing that i had with the beta versions too, but as i said this 'stable' version worked well for several weeks and i did have the freezing problem at first but then... it just stopped. I dont remember doing any changes before it stopped. Even today other people apparently still have these issues too and people still dont really seem to know what causes these freezes. Hopefully it eventually starts to work again.
