If you did a fresh install, how did all these drivers get on your system (Maybe they are included in windows)?
Make sure you keep track of all drivers which are installed through windows update.

Note: This driver was possibly automatically downloaded from windows update. Not all of these drivers are really compatible!

    1. Neither memtest nor memtest86 have reported any errors.

    2. With Seatools, Short Drive Self Fest read “ShortDST – Pass” and Long Generic read “Long Generic – FAIL”

    3. I followed the steps for Verifying Drivers, but did not get a bluescreen. It did, however, significantly slow the computer down.

    4. Running Core Temp with nothing else running in the background, I recorded a temp. of 62C with a Min reading of 62C and a Max reading of 83C. (see attached image)

    5. Running Core Temp with Seatools and MSPaint also running in the background, I recorded a temp. of 91C with a Min reading of 61C and a Max reading of 93C. (see attached image)

    6. I am not using a Bluetooth keyboard.

    7. As far as my current drivers, I have not done any updates. I just did a fresh install of windows 8 by formatting/deleting partitions. Whatever drivers I have were assigned by Windows during the install. It was only a few minutes after the install that I started getting bluescreens.
The most important thing to fix is the hard drive.
    Long Generic – FAIL
Did Seatools give you any information about the failures?
If the Long Generic test can't fix the problem and fails, your hard drive is about to fail.
Backup all personal data you don't want to loose.

If you don't have a HDD image saved, make one while you can.
Seagate has a free version of Acronis called DiscWizard, you must have a Seagate HDD in your system or it won't run.
Seagate DiscWizard works with Maxtor and Seagate disc drives.
Another free option is Macrium Reflect, it will run on any HDD.
Best to store the backup image on a separate hard drive, in case your main hard drive fails.

Your CPU core temps are high, even for a laptop. Usually AMD CPUs run cool.
    Should be idling around 45°C.
When was the last time you cleaned the dust out of your laptop?
You need to make sure it is clean.

    1. Seatools didn't give any information. Is there another program that can test the HDD?

    2. I just cleaned the laptop last week with an air can. I don't think dust is the issue. Any ideas on what I should try next?

    3. doesn't have any driver support for windows 8 for my laptop. What should I do to update drivers? Windows says they are up-to-date, which doesn't seem to be the case.

    1. Not really, SeaTools is the best test for hard drives.
You should back up any data you don't want to loose. Get another HDD to replace your failing drive.

    2. Dis-mantle the laptop and replace the thermal paste on the CPU/CPU cooler. Check that the fans are running correctly.

    3. Try checking on the HP users forum, someone may have an answer for you.

    3) Don't install obsolete drivers. If a device doesn't work we can look at it here also.
