DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE - Help very much appreciated!

    Hi guys,

I recently updated my Sony Vaio VGN-Z690 to Windows 8 Pro x64. I've been getting some DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSODs and I'm not quite sure how to complete the diagnosis. I believe that I've managed to extract the minidump, but I'm relatively new to to this so I may very well have made a mistake. I've attached the text that I have.

Please let me know if any additional information could be helpful; thanks in advance!

What is your driver version and date for intel HD Graphics?

    See my thread

    BSOD on IGDKMD64 intel HD

    from 2 days ago.

I currently switched to the desktop driver (10/17/2012) driver version from
    for my system, a laptop.

I'm a bit confused: Is your processor a core 2 duo or a sandy bridge like mine?

    Driver Date: 8/22/2009
    Driver Version:
    Processor: Core 2 Duo

It looks like the driver is pretty old - I'm trying to download an updated driver direct from Intel. In your case did updating the driver stop the crash?

My HP ENVY dv7 Notebook PC has a funny quirk about it. My network usually will always connect. When connecting it will say every once in a while can't connect to this network. I think I have narrowed this down to it being the computer itself. My other laptop running windows 7 doesn't do that. ...
