W8 shows me this screen, the mouse arrow and nothing more. Then, this app also vanishes: the screen is black and the cursor still goes (and the HD still works).

Hmmm that sounds strange, can you click it and choose a browser?

Now I know what the problem was. Strangely, McAffee Online Child protection was so RAM consuming that the system crashed.
This was not a W8 problem per se, so moderators move this thread wherever is fitted and please change title.
