Tiles vs apps

Hi,

I have Chrome installed on my desktop, and as a tile on the Start menu.

My problem is that these two icons both open as 'different' instances of chrome, rather than realising the program is already open. Is this a feature of 8, or can I somehow force it to recognise that it shouldn't reopen the app?

Is it ok to bump this just one time? I can't find the answer to this, and it feels strange that tile_Chrome opens a different program than desktop_Chrome...

That's how it's supposed to work - because they are different programmes.

I don't get that though.

I like the desktop Chrome app, so I "pin" it to the start menu for easier access. I expect it to open the Desktop one, not the tablet-enhanced version of Chrome... I don't understand the two different programs!
