Solved Desktop IE has no internet access

OK I have searched through this forum to no avail.
I upgraded from W7.
IE Metro works OK.
Chrome works OK from Desktop.
IE (Desktop) doesn't have internet access.
I have searched the web & found nothing that works.
If I go to options, connections, setup - it tells me that I am already connected, however no pages load.
I have tried "netsh windsock reset" - that doesn't solve the problem.
Tried IE reset.
Don't want to try PC reset & lose everything.
Any ideas?

Long answer:
Found the location of ie10, copied to the desktop, run as administrator, answer UAC message, then runs OK.
