Can't verify account registration?

Sometimes I will receive an email asking to verify my email address for an account I have registered for. They supply their website address with a long following of numbers & letters, but it is not hyperlinked so I can't click on it. So I copy & paste it into Google Search but that does nothing for me. What am I doing wrong?

Hi again, I copied & pasted it into WordPad & it did become a hyperlink as you thought. However, when I click on it, it opens up in IE on the specific company's website on the Desktop, but with the statement: 'Activation with the key ......................................(the no.) failed. Please check the activation link in your email'.
Maybe it's gone beyond its 'sale by' date. What do you think alphanumeric?

Thanks alphanumeric, I rec'd a new account registration number & based on your recommendation copied & pasted it to WordPad & it became hyperlinked, clicked on it & it confirmed my registration on their website. I would sure like to understand why some email items are hyperlinked & some are not. Is it something to do with security or what?

Likely depends on what your using for e-mail. I would think it also has to do with its security settings.
