    Can't add Google as search engine in IE 11

    In IE 11 on Windows 8.1, I can't add Google as (default or not) search engine in IE 11. When I click on "Add to Internet Explorer" in no dialog/pop-up comes up so I can't add it.

    I have disabled the pop-up blocker of IE and disabled also privoxy that I use.

    I had to run malware-bytes and adwcleaner, to clean my sister's laptop from minor malware (like binkiland), I don't know if it's related or not.

    Is there some .reg file available to directly add to the registry Google search engine in IE 11 (desktop version) ??
    Is there another way to add a search engine than (that does not work here), to IE search bar.

    I just found this The latest IE11 patch prevents some Windows users from adding Google as a search provider -- if it finishes installing at all
    That may be related. I am not at the PC right now so I can't check if I have
    KB 3038314 installed or not.

    Hi everyone,

    This is my (working) solution:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{045E0E8E-03DF-45D7-A725-63C70815808E}]
    "URL"="{searchTerms}&sourceid=ie7&{language}:{referrer:source}&ie={inputEncoding ?}&oe={outputEncoding?}"
    "SuggestionsURL"="{searchTerms}&client=ie8&mw={ie:maxWidth}&sh={ie:sectionHeight}&rh={ie:rowHeight}&inputenco ding={inputEncoding}&outputencoding={outputEncoding}"

    Logoff and login, and voila!

    Please remember - it's a workaround!
