Solved Google Chrome Won't Run

Google Chrome has been installed and has operated satisfactorily for over a year on a Lenovo desktop. The OS is Windows 8.1 64 bit. Chrome application version is 42.0.2311.90.

Three days ago Chrome stopped working on that desktop computer.

When I try to open Chrome an error message advises Chrome did not shut down correctly. It will not run.

Have uninstalled Google Chrome and attempted to download and install the program several times. The same error message appears and Chrome will not run.

Chrome is functioning normally on a Dell Windows 7 laptop, a Samsung Chromebook, and Nexus 7 tablet.

Please help?

Are you downloading from the official Google Chrome site ?

Try an older version of Chrome from FileHippo and see if it will update. Also, reset Chrome to default settings.

I went to FileHippo and downloaded and installed an older version of Chrome. Problem solved: it runs just the way it used to. We are most pleased.
