Cleared Chrome browsing history

Hello guys, now I am in dilemna.

Yesterday, I gave my Pc to a pal to browse. He went ahead to use chrome which is my browser of choice. After browsing, he went ahead and cleared the browsing history, cache files and saved passwords. In the process of doing all these, he cleared passwords I had been given in confidentially to certain accounts. Is there a way this can e reversed? so far google results have shown that I can do a system restore. Will this also get the saved passwords back?

Furthermore, having taken the advise from most of the sites, I went ahead and tried to do system restore. On the PC, I realized, there's no restore point, and created one(which is the current date-2nd April)

So, 1. does the system restore thing work?
2. Can the system restore date be back dated to an earlier day?

Hi Monyi,
1. Yes a system restore point will restore your browser's history and saved passwords.
2. Unfortunately there is no way to change the restore point date to earlier days.

Unless you have:
-- a backup image [which includes the GChrome folders], or
-- a CopyNpaste of said GChrome folders elsewhere, or
-- a restorable SRP
I do not know of a way to get your GC passwords back.
Going forward, before lending your computer, ensure you have restorable backups and/or restorable SRPs

Chrome stores that stuff under the login account in AppData.

So, if you create a guest account, and the person you loan the PC to uses that, whatever they do in Chrome will not affect the stuff stored in your account.

Yes Monyi, am sorry for that but you should be more careful next time, and btw you can use "forgot my password" its available in all sites.

It also depends what is meant by "cleared the browsing history, cache files and saved passwords" do you mean on the PC(Ccleaner) or through here:

If just the PC and you're sync'd in chrome they will be there when you open the browser and it re-sync's.
But if it was through the browser then go to C:\Users\YourNameHere\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default and switch the .BAK files with the current.

In regard to the last snip you have sent, what do you mean by replace the .BAK files with the current?

a bak file is a backup file.. rename the bookmarks from Bookmarks.BAK to Bookmarks and current Bookmarks to Bookmarks.BAK
