Ok. You can download and merge the .reg file I attached below, and approve all prompts to remove all Windows Update group policies. Sign out and in of Windows afterwards to fully apply, then see if you are able to set your Windows Update settings. :)

Hello,
I've used the attach file you added to remove "some settings are managed by your system administrator" and wasn't successful, please help.

Well, that has nothing to do with Windows Update, and is why the .bat file you tried from the other thread didn't help. Luckily it won't hurt anything since it just restores default settings for that. ;)

Instead, it looks like an administrator (you??) may have specified and prevented to change the homepage of Internet Explorer. As a test, see if using step 1 in OPTION ONE of the tutorial below may help.

Brink,
Your Awesome, It work! I just purchase this computer and it came this way. I was log on as the administrator and that message was still appearing there. Good thing I came across your website when I was doing research in how to remove this. Why did this computer come this way? Guessing the issue was in the registry editor. Also I would like your recommendation for a good antivirus software including malaware, spyware, etc.

Thanks

You're most welcome.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the manufacturer would not of had it set that way. I suppose if it was ever on display or a boxed return, it may have been set by someone playing with it.

Brink,
The computer definitely wasn't a return item, purchase brand new online from Wal-Mart and inspected the item after opening it. Prior to this purchase I purchase another computer and it's settings was also set the same way, strange. Do you have a recommendation for a good antivirus software including mala-ware, spyware, tune-up, etc.

Thanks

I like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free or Pro. It can be used along with Windows Defender.

I wouldn't recommend using any 3rd party tune-up or registry cleaning type program. There are tons of snake oil out there with them, and Windows already has automatic maintenance included.

Thanks for the recommendation for the malware, however I had the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed in my computer. I removed it after speaking to a Dell representative when I purchased the computer 2 weeks ago. I had asked them about a sleeping issue the computer is experiencing and he informed me that these free malware and virus are not good and causes software issues and that's why I'm experiencing this sleep issue on the computer. Don't know how true that is.

I'd say that the Dell rep doesn't know anything about MBAM.

I use the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, and never had an issue with it, and it doesn't have any options or features that could wake the computer.

I think the rep may have been referring to these free all-in-one type utility programs instead that claim to fix everything on your computer with a magical push of a button. Now, those are nothing but snake oil and garbage that should never be installed. :)

The Dell rep definitely was referring to my free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Spyware terminator. I gave him full access tp my computer so he can take a look to see what was wrong with it and thats when he notice the freebies on there and told me that they were no good. I like how you referred to the all-in-one type utility programs that fix issues with one magical button. Thats a good way to look at them.

Whats brand is your hardware? I feel like I should have listen to the salesperson in best buy when he told me not to purchase Monitors from Dell, that they are not that great like before. I feel they rig their software for failure so that you can call them every second and they can try to get you to buy their software warranty or a one time fixture service purchase. I got the death blue screen so my computer is out. I'm surprise they didn't charge me for the whole operating system software they are going to send me.

This is the blue death screen I'm referring too. Unfortunately, I don't have any software to repair or restored it back to its normal stage.

Luckily, on OEM PC's that came with Windows 8 preinstalled, your product key will be embedded in the motherboard's UEIF firmware chip, and will be automatically detected and used during installation.

If you can get your PC to boot, then you could also use Option 5, 6, or 7 in the tutorial below to get your key. :)

Since this is a brand new PC, you might consider taking it back to either exchange it or get a refund.
