Saving photos

Hi folks
My wife has had some photos emailed to her that she wants to keep in a folder that she has set up in the 'photos' section of her laptop which is running on WIndows 8.1. We've tried just about every permutation know to man including copy and pasting, dragging and 'save as' options to move the photo files to the designated folder but have abjectly failed despite invoking the (unhelpful and relatively useless) Windows 8.1 help/search facility. This used to be so simple on XP - why did they make everything so different/complicated? I despair - any advice welcome.

I assume the photos are attached to the received e-mail message?

It should be easy to either (1) "copy" the attached image files, and (2) "paste" them into any folder you have created on your PC, or download the attached files, into a folder you have created?

I use Google Mail, via, eMClient for e-mail, and that is what I do with any attachments to my received mail that I want to keep

Thanks for the replies
We tried the copy and paste option but that just duplicated the photos in the my photos section; will try again and also the download option

Cheers

Your original query is:
My wife has had some photos emailed to her that she wants to keep in a folder that she has set up in the 'photos' section of her laptop which is running on WIndows 8.1. We've tried just about every permutation know to man including copy and pasting, dragging and 'save as' options to move the photo files to the designated folder but have abjectly failed despite invoking the (unhelpful and relatively useless) Windows 8.1 help/search facility. This used to be so simple on XP - why did they make everything so different/complicated?

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the problem you are having. You have said that
but that just duplicated the photos in the my photos section
so it appears you were able to save the image files to a folder of your choice (i.e. you said "but that just duplicated the photos in the my photos section").
From that I assume you were able to either download the images which were attached to an email, and save them in your chosen folder, or you were able to copy them, and then paste them into that chosen folder.

So I am assuming the image files that were attached to an email you received are now safely stored in your "photos" folder, and are available for you to view at your leisure

Is that not what you wanted to do in the first place?

Yes but i order to organise them so that she doesn't have loads of random photos in the 'photos' folder, my wife wanted to set up separate folders within the photos folder so that each batch of pictures could be given a name and accessed easily when needed...............or at least, that was the plan. We set up the new folders no problem but moving the pics to them was the problem. We'll have another try tomorrow
Thanks for your reply.

You should be able to RIGHT CLICK and then COPY (or CUT as required) the photo files that are in your "photos" folder, and then just go to the folder you have created where you want to store the files, and RIGHT CLICK and select PASTE in the folder where you want the files stored.
