Cannot save pictures from web

Whenever I try to save a picture from the web I get an error 0x80070035 (network path not found). The computer that I am getting the error for is no longer a part of my network - it has been taken out of service and is no longer available.

While this is not a show stopper, it is an annoyance. Can anyone help me out here?

What browser are you using? Have you tried more than 1 browser? I believe you may be getting the error because the default download location is specified in your browser as somewhere on the network. Perhaps making sure the browser default download location setting points to somewhere on the local machine would eliminate the error?

Thanks Strollin, I tried Firefox and all works just fine. I went back to IE and walla the error returns. So it looks like there is a setting in IE, however, I have NO IDEA where to look for the default path for the saving of pix. Can you help there?

almost sure its default would be the pictures folder ,but if you right click on the file you want to download and choose save-as ,you can then choose anywhere on the harddrive you want it to go.

you could try going into tools top of browser /internet option/advanced and check off to reset ,to reset defaults

This might be important as well. I am using a new computer which I imported the settings from my old one. I also use my Microsoft account to log into my computer.

Thanks again! I have already used the SAVE AS, and it works just fine until I shutdown IE and restart it. Then it goes back to trying to save to the computer that is no longer on the network.

Did that and still have the issue in IE. Is there a registry setting that might contain the path of the deleted computer?

no I don't know what you would have to look for in the registry ,but iam a regular user of CCleaner ,and if it were mine or one I was working on for a family member or customer of mine , I would use it to scan registry to try and fix it ,having said that a lot of people don't trust registry cleaners ,but I trust this one .so

In IE you can hit Ctl-j to bring up the downloads window then click the "Options" link on the bottom left. There you will be able to check/alter the default downloads path.
