Solved Youtube does not play video.

Hello all, title says it all. Youtube does not play video in IE10, just gives error message.
Plays fine in Chrome. Installed Flash Player fine using Chrome, but it`s already integrated into IE10.

What gives ?

And why can`t we upgrade from IE10 to 11 in 8, but yet we can do it in 7 ?

Are the videos html5 or flash ?

I have 8.1.1 & IE 11---

I have 8 installed, fully updated, will not/does not upgrade to IE11.

I would assume they are flash, IDK, I just click on a youtube video, it tries to play, I get an error and the screen goes snowy.

I did once, I`ll look again.

I checked Active X filtering and the videos are playing now, I`ll see if it holds.

Yep.
Active x should be unchecked.

I find the html5 option works good.

& I use software instead of hardware acceleration for viewing videos.

If I have it unchecked the videos won`t play.

That's odd.
I always had to uncheck it for videos to play.

Maybe things have changed.

I use the HTML5 player not Flash.

Well you have IE11, I just talked to Brink, he has 8. He tells me IE11 was never made available for W8, but was for 7 and 8.1

That is just dumb on Microsoft`s part

Upgrade to 8.1 ???

I have 8.1 also ( not installed right now ) this is purely research on 8, I`m giving it another chance. When I first installed it years ago I hated it and put it back in the drawer. I installed it on this Gateway yesterday and I`m finding everything so much easier now

But it will never replace 7 not for me anyway

And although the videos are playing ok, I still see a quick message at the top of the player telling me I must install Flash Player in order to watch the videos, even though I`m told it`s already in IE10 when I go to Adobe. And when I run the test, it works fine.
