Solved Mail App -Language

Hi there, sometimes I use the mail app in Windows 8.1, as opposed to my email client. I noticed that when I compose a message in a foreign language, it tends to want to correct words (especially those that are nearly similar), thinking they are not spelled correctly. I do not find any function in the mail app to tell the system not to auto-correct. But I feel it is annoying and a bit of a time waste. Can someone enlighten me on that? Is this a Mail app function? Or maybe a Windows 8.1 function? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks, Nuccii. I tested it after disabling auto-correct in PC settings. It must not be a function of Windows itself, but of the Mail app. It still auto-corrects words that are similar. I believe that those programmers who made the mail app built in an auto-correct function depending on the language of windows and they just don't tell you how to disable it.

What mail app are you using and do you use multiple languages in your emails or just one in particular?

looking on MS forums this has been an issue with Metro apps from the start, you cannot turn this off

the best solution I found was using windows key+spacebar to swap languages in it

I only have one language installed so unable to test this

Thanks again, nuccii. I do use English, French and German. Thanks, paulsalter for the suggestion. The problem is, my windows key and spacebar is not set up for switching languages. What I have been doing along that line is to set up the English/International keyboard, so I can make the accents, etc. with a certain keystroke. But I will test that and report back some time.

Thanks, nuccii. That didn't solve my issue. It complicated it. When I select the French language, then the system also thinks I am using the French keyboard, and strange letters appear in my text. So I guess, I am just not going to use the mail app.

That's the whole point, you change the keyboard language on the task bar to type the language you want and revert when you are finished whether it be English, French or German.
