Hi all, my names Arthur from the UK and I am new to the forum.

I am running Lenovo laptop with windows 8.1.

As I am sure you know, IE is integrated into 8.1 but my problem is this:

When I try to set up IE, it is redirected to the following browser msn:sick:I have searched and searched for where the file is located so that I may delete it and get on with IE

Can you please point me in the right direction.

Thanks Arthur

Are you talking about the home page? It automatically goes to MSN.com on the first bootup. There is no "MSN Browser." Just change the home page to Google.com in "Internet Options".

Yes that is irritating, however easy to put right.

Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Home page, change that to what you want, I use 'about:blank' which obviously is a blank page as the Home page.
Or use whatever Website address suits you e.g. 'https://www.google.co.uk/' if you want the Google search engine for UK as the Home page, no single quotes.
In the same General Tab down a bit under Start-up select 'Start with Home page'.

Apply, OK.

Every browser either sets its own preferred home page by default or defaults to the home page set in Windows' Internet Options.

There's no way that the browser's installer, or the Windows installer in the case of IE, can read your mind and set the page you think you want for a home page. You should always expect to have to set your preference manually after install.

I am sorry that it has taken a while to reply, but my land line and internet have been out of action due to repairs at the sub station.

Thanks very much for your assistance.
