Solved Internet Explorer has stopped working

I have a similar problem with EI 11 on my PC with W8.1, which is fully updated. It happens whenever I try to "Save as" a download or to print a web page.
So far I have reset it, opened it as administrator and turned off smart screen filter - to no effect.
Should I try to disable EI from the Uninstall Programs - Turn Windows on or off?

I have since turned off IE11 via the Programs and Features in the Control Panel, restarted .....and then turned it on again, and again restarted, but it still stops working when Save or Print is selected.

Try running scan disk, at a elevated command prompt type: sfc /scannow

Windows 8/8.1 can't uninstall IE, but what you did when using "turn off windows features" it disabled it.
Did you try resetting it also ? Could be a conflicting addon or corrupt missing file.

Thank you for the suggestion. Have run sfc which found errors it could not fix. The ran DSIM which did correct some errors.

Reran sfc and now OK. However still stops working as before.

I have previously done a reset from Internet Options / Advaanced

When you said you reset it under advanced tab in IE, you can try to also select "restore advanced settings" then "rest", restart PC.

Think maybe a addon toolbar or etc.. in IE, use those tutorials.

After none of the things I tried worked I reinstalled form an earlier backup, and have since done many updates.

IE 11 performed normally throughout the whole activities.

So I don't know what was the cause but the problem has now gone. As I had all data including pst files in a separate partition nothing needs to be done here, but I do have some reinstallation of programs I have recently installed to install again.

Good to know it is fixed. Usually would suggest what you did as a last resort after everything else is tried first to resolve it.

Could of always done a Windows 8.1 refresh to. Try now to make a system restore point that you know it is working properly, i would make one before reinstalling programs, then you can always delete that restore point and make another or have 2 of them.
