Outlook 2013 - Move PST and OST files

Can anyone advise on now to move Outlook 2013 PST and OST files to a different location on Windows 8.1?
I have tried a number of the publicised methods but with no success.

The OST file is simply the cached version of the file. You can simply delete that and it will recreate it the next time you launch Outlook.

As far as the PST goes, that should be easy. Close outlook, access the Mail applet from the control panel. Point this to wherever you placed the PST file. I do this all of the time at work, it should work just fine.

If these steps don't work, let us know what error or problem you are having. Perhaps the issue is a little deeper than just changing the locations of the file. Like I said, moving these around should be a piece of cake.

The PST file is in fact not an issue, however the OST files just will not play ball.

Prior to a recent reinstall of Windows 8 I had managed to move all of them, but this time around have had no such luck. :(

As I said, I've tried all of the published solutions. Even went as far as setting up ForcePSTPath and ForceOSTPath, which I did not use on the previous occasion.

Also tried symbolic links and junctions, but Outlook just seemed to ignore those.

Perhaps a reinstall of Office might help?

What happens when the .OST file is not there? I delete that file with some regularity at work and it just creates a new one when it's missing.

Outlook does recreate the OST files: ------ just exactly where they used to be.
Seems to just ignore ForcePSTPATH, ForceOSTPATH, symbolic links, and directory junctions.

Have given up before my head explodes.
