In prior days, IE would open the usual old browser, a mostly white screen with pull-down menu and address bar on top. Today, I open IE and suddenly its all BLACK with address bar on the BOTTOM. Is this a new version? Am I somehow now opening it in a different MODE? I don't have time to screw around. I just want my old browser back! I d'led Firefox as a backup plan, but maybe I can salvage IE if you can tell me how. Help!

The old one is still running. I have the browser still open from last time I used the computer. It will even come up the old way if I right-click a link in the old one and say "Open in new window"!!! Gotta be a mode thing, or a setting. I didn't ask to change anything, but I know updates are set to go automagically, so that might be how. I don't really care HOW it happened, I just want it back to normal when I start a new window!

I know if I close all the current IE windows, I will be stuck with this new black version forever. I read that you can't have two different versions of IE installed.... so what's going on and how do I reverse it?

Thanks!

Windows 8 sucks! XP FOREVER!!!

I went there, selected 'Always in Internet Explorer' and clicked APPLY. That didn't change anything. Tried 'Always in Internet Explorer on the desktop' with same results. Any other suggestions? What is going on? Why am I seeing this (new?) BLACK IE browser with the address box on the bottom? Thanks again

If you are opening IE by clicking on the Internet Explorer tile on your Start or Apps screen, then that's why. That tile opens the modern IE.

See if using Always in Internet Explorer on the desktop and check Open Internet Explorer tiles on the desktop helps. :)
