Hi, I had the same problem, this is how to fix it - go to control panel -click mail(32bit) - click show profiles - click Outlook - click remove - click add - type Outlook in again for profile name - set up your connection as usual and it should work this time - test it first of course.

I have Windows 8 CP 64bit with Outlook 2010 64bit.

I tried to remove the profile, as you said, whest, but the problem persist. I tried to configure my e-mail account as POP3 and I have the same results

I tried also combinations of Windows 8 32-64bit and Outlook 2010 32-64 / Outlook 2007, but nothing again

I tried this but it didn't work on my system (Outlook 2003).

IM USING OUTLOOK 2003 myself and it worked - I did a complete install for the Student & Teacher Edition - has also excel, word and powerpoint and then installed all the updates for office via windows update. Im also running the windows live suite and I included windows live mail.
I could only suggest a repair or another install of the office suite if the repair doesn't work, and then try again. If that doesn't work download the windows live essentials suite and use windows live mail - you can import all your email accounts into it easily -
Windows Live Essentials - Download free Microsoft programs

I was just thinking it might work if you started a new account.

I tried this but it didn't work on my system (Outlook 2003).

You could type another name instead of Outlook and see if that works - this goes back a decade for me so i m not sure - probably a waste of time, but you never know.

Not much help for those with pop3 issues but just FYI, I am using Outlook2007 with Google apps just fine. The Google apps subscription includes an Outlook sync tool which creates the profile for you automatically and works great on Windows 8 CP. Microsoft might want to look into breaking this...

I tried all the three options and it finally worked.
1) Created new outlook profile (did not work)
2) Downloaded Windows Live (then added one of my pop account which worked perfectly)
3) Downloaded Office Suite 2007 SP3 from Windows Update
4) Tried again in Outlook 2007 and it is working perfectly now.
I think Office Suite 2007 SP3 solved the problem

There is some stuff you have to do before putting your email on outlook You must type pop3 or http, http would be the best one and then type in your email address and all other the other things. Thanks

Allow Outlook to get its settings automatically. Just enter your name, email address (including the domain) and password and then click Next. It will then search for the appropriate settings and apply them to the account. You might get an error about not being able to use an encrypted connection/credentials, if this happens click on Next to use unencrypted ones. Your account should now be set up.
