In desktop, used ie10 to move 'Temporary Internet Files' (to root directory) and now none of the metro ie10 pinned sites (including Internet explorer itself) are working - any ideas?

Thanks Jeremy

Hello Jeremy, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Did you restart the computer after moved it to see if that may help?

If it doesn't, then you may need to set the Temporary Internet Files back to the default hidden path below from within IE. There must be a registry setting somewhere for Metro IE10 that is still set to look for them at the default location below and doesn't get changed when you move it.

C:\Users\(user-name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

Changes the 'Temporary Internet Files' back to the suggested location but still not working.

Any other ideas (besides reinstall)?

Thanks Jeremy

You could do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this happened to hopefully fix it.
