A Windows Update (KB2964358) was issued to supposedly deal with this. I just switched off Flash temporarily before this. ;)

Also, there was a Flash update (KB2961887) prior to this.

I read that only IE9, IE10 and IE11 were being targeted by criminals and that you should try switching to another more secure browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

Yeah, but that was before the patch, I'm sure. I use Firefox because I prefer it, not for security reasons; however, I had to change a friend over to Firefox because of security. Now I can give her the choice of keeping FF or going back to IE.

Hi there.

If you have a Linux box use KONQUEROR (on KDE desktops) -- perfectly 100% safe - currently.

However I think the IE updates have been released by MS -- even for XP users as a One Off emergency fix even after XP reached EOL. !!

I wouldn't assume Chrome etc are any more safe when run on Windows -- it's not so much the problem of the browsers per se but the weaknesses inherent in the Windows kernel -- although W8.1 is far superior to earlier versions. Windows also has more hackers "after it" so although Linux is safe it can actually be hacked as well - it's just that the hacking community isn't on "their case" yet.

Cheers
